Personally I'm a cream first person... But I know the jam/cream first debate is a contentious one. Almost as contentious as the loo roll direction question - hanging sheet at the front... or at the back.
Or how do you pronounce scone. Is it scone, or is it scone? Personally I say scone, but I know a few people who insist it's scone.
    :D

Semantics are redundant when there are scones to be scoffed!!

I’m a fan of the National Trust Book of Scones for both savoury & sweet recipes. They have a particularly tasty leek and onion recipe but that won’t go with clotted cream and jam. Obviously jam first to secure the cream 😉

I always see the cream more like butter on a slice of bread... you wouldn't put butter on after jam, hence cream first.

And back to the tea… milk first is fine if you use loose leaf and are pouring the tea onto the milk.  Milk last is essential if you are (shudder) pouring boiling water straight on to a tea bag.  Proper tea requires boiling water to release the flavour, if you are pouring water onto teabag and milk it won’t be at the right temperature.

Fortunately my inner pedant can cope with scones however pronounced as long as there is cream and jam or jam and cream.
