Happy New Year one and all, and thanks to everyone who contributes.
My view on the banning is limited, usually things are deleted before I realise what is happening, but there were some regular, knowledgeable, helpful posters who could also be curt, short and to the point. If they have responded to the same or very similar questions 15 or 20 times previously their displeasure may well show.
Unfortunately new posters - who aren't familiar with these parts - see the curt response, don't recognise the positives the person brings, regard the answer as rude and complain. Sometimes other regulars, who don't necessarily contribute much themselves, join in and also complain about how newbies are being treated.
A ban then ensues.
It's unfortunate, and we've lost a lot of people with high post counts, who brought a lot to the table, but there are lessons that could be learned all round. Not responding immediately to things that annoy you being one of them.

I think many of us are at least partly regurgitating what we have learned from the forum in the first place !cloud_dog said:
@Alexland, I thank you for including me but my contributions are way more limited than the other great contributors listed on this threadAlexland said:Thinking back over the over my last 8 years here other significant contributors not already mentioned include the great @xylophone @cloud_dog @LHW99 @Bostonerimus1 (formerly @Bostonerimus) @TBC15 the less active these days @Prism and one of our most successful investors the self appointed MSE gold expert and totally banned @DiggerUK.
I'm sure we are still missing a few more wonderful long term regulars (particularly from the cash savings threads) so sorry if you haven't been mentioned yet.
Yes a loss to this place but it's nice to see they are still very active elsewhere.aroominyork said:I hadn't clocked that Thrugel/Hoenir had disappeared. But of course. He has. Shame.
Any commentary I may have made was probably as a result of others

Very much so in my case (the mention from Alexland is very welcome, but undeserved).Has anyone mentioned @Silvertabby and @wjr4?Hope everyone has an enriching 20267 -
I've really enjoyed (and learned a lot from) comments and observations by all the aforementioned! I am wondering whether I have a quirky turn of mind in finding wandering the highways and byways of the rules of pension schemes rather fascinating.....4

Its a real shame good people get either banned or feel it is too much hassle to continue posting. We all lose out when experience and common sense are lost.dunstonh said:
There was a point when the board had several posters (in the money sections - probably other sections had similar) who would relentlessly try to antagonise regular contributors to provoke a response. Eventually, the victim would snap and post a snarky response, and the board admin would ban the victim. Sometimes the troll would get a ban, but they would pop up again with a new board name.tigerspill said:Why have some of these excellent posters been banned?
I think I am the only exception to the ban being overturned. Nowadays, I tend to use the ignore button to those. If I can't see what they say (and they cant see what I say) then there is less chance of a provoked reaction.2 -
Perhaps on a par with the wonderful intricacies involved in trains?!!xylophone said:I've rally enjoyed (and learned a lot from) comments and observations by all the aforementioned! Perhaps on a par with the wonderful intricacies involved in trains?!!
Aargh! Don't even mention the word train to me after the time I had getting home from the airport on 29 Dec! My own fault, I should have
done more research!

Indeed, if it wasn't for the advice and knowledge imparted by the excellent regulars on these boards, I would not have built the confidence to retire early and change my life. Thanks all!If you want to be rich, live like you're poor; if you want to be poor, live like you're rich.5
