Halfords really are a complete and utter nightmare. Totally incompetent. Avoid. Always.0

Yes I didbazdvd said:so you sent the word cancel to the chatbot? did you follow the link and then cancel and explain why you were cancelling?
I only ask as if you did it all the right way they will have a record of it on their system0 -
Possibly - I think the absence of anything confirming the cancellation indicates that your request/instruction wasn’t applied.SparkyMark123 said:

Usually, I would expect a text/email confirming the cancellation.
If you don’t have that then unfortunately you cannot evidence that you cancelled0 -
Another vote here for "If that's all you received, you didn't cancel the repair booking..."
A C1 with a new MOT should recoup most of that expenditure, though.0 -
Note you asked two questions:bazdvd said:

"so you sent the word cancel to the chatbot? did you follow the link and then cancel and explain why you were cancelling?"
I think this response was to the first only.
It's clear the cancellation was never done in the eyes of Halfords, so working with Halfords on a resolution is the only way out of this.1 -
Why did you leave the car with them over Christmas? Where did you get the money for a new car if you can't afford the repairs?1

well - car failed on 20th Dec but wasnt collected untill after XMas (presumably after 27th since work was scheduled for then and was completed)sheslookinhot said:
What business is it of yours why the car was left at Halfords or where the OP got the money from ?m0bov said:Why did you leave the car with them over Christmas? Where did you get the money for a new car if you can't afford the repairs?
Depending on when the OP thought they had cancelled - it seems odd that they just left the car there for a week. Most people would probably have gone and picked it up
Why they left it there and where they got the money from is irrelevant - albeit, the work couldn't have been completed if they hadn't left it there

OP already said they were away for Christmas in their original postLightFlare said:

It's my business as this is a public forum where the op posted a question. If you can't handle people asking questions best to run along.sheslookinhot said:

Indeed - but leaving the car there for a week having decided not to proceed with the work is “odd”. (Depending on exact timelines) and possibly contributed to the situation they find themselves inHampshireH said:
