That’s exactly how decluttering has always gone on in my house too @QueenJess It inspires the others but I am left with big piles to sort, allocate and move on. If I didn’t it would just all end up being put in the general waste bin.
@Siebrie- It’s good to see you but I am sorry that you are continuing to have such a difficult time and have also suffered the loss of your dad. I hope that your life will be simpler once you have the divorce. I agree with Daisy that the 50/50 is something of a blunt instrument and not always fair.
Mrs SD - I am so impressed with you both for doing your rally in a heatwave!@BlueJ94 - I hope you get to catch up with a snooze later.
@GrannyKate
A swimming pool in the garden sounds very appealing!I am very tired with this heat and lack of sleep. We are retired so I really feel for everyone having to actually work through this. We have just been maintaining what we can with the garden and only basic housework and cooking. Laundry being done but no ironing. I found myself looking at portable AC units in the early hours but managed not to succumb to ordering! I have a bagful for the CS for when I next go past. I feel like I need to rethink how we manage the garden in summer. Usually we don’t have to do much watering but even some shrubs and trees were showing signs of stress and needed attention.
It’s nice to come in here and see what you lovely people have all been up to. Take care and hope you all have a good weekend.13 -
@Moorviews yes, it is an ongoing battle and the area I work in at home is the sorting and dumping ground, so it's a matter of trying to bail out the boat faster than it's coming in 😂
I'm officially floored… I opened my wardrobe a minute ago and DH stood in front of it and said "I'm really envious of your minimal wardrobe, how can I get mine to be like that?". It may take me a while to recover from the shock!
More stuff gone and packed up (I only count them once they are packed up and dealt with, otherwise I'll end up with a room full of stuff to sort!), but it feels like a drop in the ocean. I still have an "overflow" drawer of pens and pencils for the kids 😬
2 - craft offcuts (binned/recycled)
5 - books I won’t re-read (charity box)
4 - random stuff binned/recycled

Use it up total 495Still struggling knowing where to look next and am very randomly opening the odd drawer. I'm trying to be more realistic about what I actually use and have the time to use at the moment. I started a puzzle, but not that impressed with it so that will go when I've got round to dealing with it. I have too many puzzles and realistically I don't have much time, so I should get rid of some more of them.

@Siebrie while good to see you i'm so sorry to hear you're having such a tough time. Sounds as if you're daughters are getting so grown up. Children are more knowing about parents than we give them credit for and who gives them the support and love although it doesn't always feel like it.
Sorry others not having an easy time.
Monday as cooler will be cleaning day and tomorrow going to DB to go through more parents stuff.
Took Items off selling site, posh shoes and jigsaw jacket and put in cs bag along with another sheet and dropped off. Abit more digital and paper declutter and trying to sort some financial frogs. Will add 5 and hope to do more slowly this pm. Luckily downstairs only got to 27.5 but bedroom much warmer!

Finally dived under the bed for my ‘summer heatwave’ clothes….yes a little behind the recent soaring temperature!! I shall be wearing them and deciding if they’re staying.
One new Vinted listing this morning and, having rummaged through the wardrobe, found some more bits that I’ve mentally had ready for leaving but hadn’t got round to fishing them out. Some will be going on Vinted.

I didnt get to nap, I ended up finishing work at 10.30 as I had completed everything I was supposed to do, I then parked the work van at the unit and OH picked me up and we went to two boot sales. I also then went to Matalan clearance outlet with my sister to have a look, I spent £6 on a skirt and a dress.
Tomorrow is boot sales, 7.30 10 and 12! Followed by an afternoon of nothing thankfully! I have a few bits to list on Vinted.

I have fallen way behind as it is so hot here in London that I only have the energy & concentration for certain activities 😉 So I will start with finishing Friday:
We left the hotel at 10:30 with the temperature already at 23°C. First stop was for petrol. It ended up being the journey from hell as the further south we went the hotter it got 🥵 & we were both wearing proper motorcycling gear. What made it worse was that we had to keep chopping & changing roads so that we were always moving & didn’t get stuck in traffic jams. We ended up buying water to tip over us rather than drink. At one point the bike registered 44°C & that was whilst we were moving 🥵🥵 Due to this our 4.5 hour journey ended up taking 7 hours & arrived home 17:35 😱 where the temperature was 36°C. We only took the time to empty the top box before going indoors & stripping off our bike gear & going out on the patio & hosing down from head to toe. DH did this several times as it was so hot that he dried off very quickly. As well as hydrating externally we hydrated internally 😊 DSis really has not enjoyed the heat, mostly spent her time indoors trying to stay cool - cold baths 😎 Although she did clean & weed the patio, so I am awarding her a medal 🏅 We each fended for ourselves - DH & DSis had sandwiches & I heated up a portion of pasta bolognaise from the freezer. I spent the evening dealing with holiday accounts & starting on my mail + clearing down recorded programmes. My sky+ box is no longer receiving a satellite signal so need to order a new box as there is no longer any support/repair. Now I will have to play hunt the original paperwork 😞
We had 30 seconds of rain at 03:50 followed by a 10 minute thunder & lightning storm at 04:15 There was enough rain to wet the ground but it dried out quite quickly. Too hot to sleep but did manage a couple of hours between 06:00 & 08:30. Saturday has been cooler - only 31°C but has been a lot muggier with no breeze. I have almost finished dealing with my mail 😮💨 DH unloaded the rest of our luggage & I will tackle the washing tomorrow. We fended for ourselves again tonight.

I will try to do some cheerleading now starting with those dated early morning Friday:
BlueJ94, hopefully at 05:00 it was a lot cooler upstairs for your OH & the dog🤞
Liverpool_Anne, the heat is so debilitating that it makes everything including hanging out washing such hard work, so well done on getting 2 x LDFPA 👏 I hope the rain lasted longer than ours did 🤞
Nice to see you Pennypincin 👋 Excellent decluttering 👏 but a shame about the loss of seeds/seedlings/flowers 😞
Excellent decluttering Florenceem 👏 Hopefully J managed to get all the jobs done & you managed to get out to pick up your package during a cooler part of the day 🤞
Nice to see you Deb4 👋 I will keep everything crossed that the weather cools down so that you & the care home residents can get some relief 🤞
Excellent work QueenJess 👏 I am in awe at how well you know yourself & understand exactly what works for you when you are decluttering ☺️
Great work florianatwobob 👏
BlueJ94, enjoy your new sweeping brush - a real bargain 😊
I have caught up a little but am now struggling 😞 Sleep tight 😴

Hi all, yesterday was a bit cooler so after I got the union thing mostly done it was quite pleasant in the garden with a breeze. I had a coffee over the fence with ln before she went off to church and then I did a bit more clearing in the conservatory. I got the work bench outside and hosed it down, an old drain cover into the recycling, gave the sun brolly a wash down along with a car boot tidy thing which will go to the cs. Various other bits of gubbins put in the bin and then it was time to eat 😂. After tea I just watched the footy 😂.
It is much cooler this morning and it is raining so hopefully I'll be able to get more done 😁
Right time for another cuppa, hugs to anybody who would like one

I was looking forward to a quiet day at home today and hoped to do a solid bit of sorting out some of my own stuff as well as washing etc in a leisurely fashion. It is now almost midday and I have done nothing and am not even dressed. As soon as I had 1 minute to myself I went to look for some things to sort out/declutter and since then I've not even had 5 seconds to myself. DH decides he is going to sort out the bottom of his cupboard and has a question every minute to ask me, then I told the kids they could only go to the toy shop to spend their pocket money if they get rid of 3 things (6 for DS) to make room. They started and couldn't stop, but also had to show me every single thing they were getting rid of. Cue me running between 3 different rooms.
All of them have gone for lunch and I'm staring at stuff everywhere that I have to sort out 😫 I have not done the washing, I have not got dressed today, I have not tidied any of my stuff. I am halfway through sorting out the stuff the kids/DH decluttered, but it's so overwhelming that I've taken a break. I'm never going to get to my stuff at this rate.. Why does no one help me with my things?
