Having a day off the decorating as I am hurting quite a bit today. Haven’t done very much but I’m happy.
Painted the top of the unit that lives in the hall. I think it’s rubber wood. Whatever it is, I panicked when I put the paint on as it looked like it was covering all the loveliness of the wood. Thankfully once it had dried the wood was still there, just looking much better. So that’s another job done.
Cleaned a couple of spots on the sitting room carpet - ticked that off my list.
Read the meters and posted on website.
Deseeded and sliced some peppers. Won’t use them this week and they’re too costly to waste. 3 smaller bags of mixed peppers now in freezer.
Decided that while I have the painting things out, the bathroom could do with the once over. Have a lovely vintage Sanderson border for it.
Made another dozen washable pads this week.
Tonight I am taking the hem up on a skirt.Hope everyone has had a lovely day.
Have a good evening, sleep tight xx

Well done everyone. Your holiday sounds lovely @Mrs_Salad_Dodger Glad you dodged the showers.
@suzeesu2000 do you freeze the peppers in an open layer and then bag up once frozen? How do they cook once thawed?
Today has been busy but productive. I've had my eye on a TV sound bar for a while, but wasn't willing to buy it at full price. I'd spotted it was on sale, so it is now bought. I used up some vouchers from work (which involved a call to the lady on the 24/7 helpline to reset my log in ...)
Three lots of washing done. Bed turned (and yet to be remade).
Cheese for mum, watch battery, watering can, hand fan, and tea bought at the local shops. Diamond anniversary card written and posted. Allotment and greenhouse watered, hoed the weeds I'd not managed last week, and bags of weeds brought back for the green bin.
Collected the sound bar from a local shopping centre. Weedkiller sprayed on the driveway weeds. Seeds and plants given to neighbour to water in his greenhouse while I'm away. Watering in the greenhouse and allotment sorted. Post sorted (it's visible through the glass of the door otherwise).
Just the dishwasher to do before breakfast, will pack in the morning. I have a regular list of things to take with me to Mum's. Will need to try on clothes that are as cool as possible (and earmark absolute failures for the CS when I get back) as it's going to be mid-high 30s probably.
I'm just looking up the price of computer monitors (think that's a No). and wired keyboards (possibly) so I'm not having to use the laptop keyboard.
Must also book a taxi. Phew!

Not done a lot today although I did go to a history meeting this morning. I enjoy these ones but missed the last two for holidays and will miss the next one as well. Next one after that is September. A little weeding done and fridge cleared out but nothing else.
624 Weeds decluttered
625 Fridge sorted out and some food decluttered to bin

Mended a seam on a silk top, been in my craft basket about a month. Only did it as I wanted to wear it today.
Finished knitting a kids beret. I am starting an adult one now for DD1. It's a very old black and white pattern, looks like it could have been my Nanas from the 1930's. I am amassing quite a stash of items knitted for Happy Kitties charity work.
yes I know! I am giving the sofa away tomorrow. It just didn't turn out to be right. We will live with a couple of arm chairs for a bit.
Bought a top and a fancy scarf from the chazzer whilst out with DD1. Also bought DS some sports socks, from TKmax. There was more hole than sock when he took his shoes off the other day.

@Yorkie1 I deseed them, slice then and then into a zipper bag. I roll the bag to get as much air out as possible. Then close the bag and flatten it spreading the contents, then flat into freezer. I use them straight from freezer and haven’t found them to be any different from fresh ones. I never defrost first.

Saturday continued: the weather forecast was pretty accurate 🥳 It was fairly dull for the 1st hour or so but then improved throughout the day with a lot of sunshine & white clouds although the wind remained quite strong throughout the day. All in all a good day for bike riding ☺️ We packed up the bike & were on our way by 09:50. First stop was a landmark - a Boundary Stone in the middle of nowhere 🙊 We then headed to the Nigg Ferry to cross over to Cromarty for our 2nd landmark. When we got there it was a bit of a shock - very small ferry, 1 in 3 ramp to board & DH would have had to try to reverse the bike off on the other side 😱 The word “nah” came to mind 😂 Instead we went by road - an additional 42 miles 😉 but a wise decision as we found a café (it was not only lunch time but a comfort break was needed 😉) so we had cappuccinos, orange & chocolate cake + apple & date shortbread 😋 Finally saw some Highland cows (aka Hairy Cows according to DH) 😊 The rest of today’s menagerie was sheep, horses, cows, pigs, a heron (definitely), jackdaws, a pheasant & 2 swans. After our lunch we headed off to our 3rd & final landmark - stopped at Halfords to pick up a couple of bits for the bike & an headlamp bulb (as one has blown) might be able to change it but should we get stopped by a member of the constabulary at least we have the spare & are just waiting to find a suitable & safe place to swap the bulbs. We arrived at our hotel (a new one) in Forres at 17:15. Checked in & tried to make a reservation for dinner - no joy as all the tables were booked for Fathers Day treats 😉 I was particularly annoyed as there was no mention of needing a reservation at the time of booking OR when payment was taken several days ago 😖 Customer Service = 0 However it is a lovely old building & our room is very nice. We got scrubbed & changed & headed into town at 19:00. The receptionist told us it was a 2/3 minute walk (neglected to mention that we would need to be capable of a 4 minute mile 😂) - 2/3 minutes was by car 🤔 The last thing we needed was a walk but we ploughed on & ended up 15 minutes later outside an Indian Restaurant called Tandoori Forres. The menu looked good & there were already several diners, so in we went. The deities were smiling on us - the food was absolutely delicious 😋 & very reasonably priced. We didn’t go mad - 2 poppadoms, one chicken pakora starter, a special rice, a plain naan, one aloo gobi, chicken tikka dansak, chicken korma & 3 x 660ml Cobra beer. We were stuffed having left half a naan, a third of the rice & a third of the aloo gobi. A leisurely stroll back & we were in our room by 21:25 & thanking our lucky stars that we couldn’t eat in the hotel 🙊 I will start on the cheerleading from Friday & see if I can catch up 🤞
GrannyKate, hopefully DGS3 is happy 😊 & will want to help out again 🤞 & get 10 more points off your jobs list 😉 Excellent work in the garden 👏 & I will pop round later for a pot of tomato purée made from your glut of hg tomatoes 😂 Hope the shower cooled you down & was conducive to a good nights sleep on Friday 🙏
Lovely cheerleading post Yorkie1 🥹 Very good of you to drop everything to help out your mum 🥹 Hopefully you manage to get everything sorted your end 🙏
Lovely post florianatwobob 😊 Well done on the award 👏
daisy_1571, I am just thankful that you are back 🥹 I have finally got into the habit of clearing my Safari history every week & when at home I power off my iPad every 2 weeks to keep my iPad Storage in check. This week I have been putting my iPad on airplane mode & then powering off just before we leave in the morning. The very first thing I do is log on to MSE just to put my mind at rest 😉
QueenJess, I love that your DS is trying to help his sister declutter ☺️ Hopefully you can set up a little competition between them 😉
Florenceem, I am so happy that your Bestie has reminded you how much decluttering you have done so far 😊
vulpix, I do hope the weather was kind to DD1 whilst she was in Shetland 🤞Have a lovely visit with DD1 🥹
QueenJess, hopefully out of sight out of mind for your DD 🤞 & she will like the extra space so much that she will let you declutter all the excess items 🙏
TC77, very impressed at the cleaning of slippers 👏 I am worried now as I wear mine outside quite often 😰 Good luck cleaning the sinks 🍀
QueenJess, hopefully the more your DD allows you to remove the more she will agree to release as it will be easier for her to find things 🤞
Wow Florenceem, that is a lot of donations 🤩👏 Another Gold Star ⭐️ is on its way 😊
TC77, love the cupboard 😌 lucky cats 👏
suzeesu2000, excellent work & a busy day 👏 A medal 🏅is on its way. I imagine you will sleep well tonight 😊
Crikey Yorkie1, you have been busy 👏 Great work getting everything done/organised before you head off to your Mum’s house 👏 I am so impressed that I am awarding you a medal 🏅
GrannyKate, shame that you are so busy that you miss the history meetings 😞 Hopefully things will quieten down by September & you will be able to attend each & every week 🤞
Excellent work with the knitting vulpix 👏 Shame about the sofa, but at least you tried living with it 😞 Pleased to hear that you treated yourself today ☺️
BlueJ94, those lettuces looks lovely & being home grown they will taste delicious 😋 I adore the picture of your cat despite him killing a lettuce 🙊
suzeesu2000, thanks for the tip about freezing peppers 👏
Florenceem, sorry to hear that you were missing MrF so much today 🥺 Very pleased to hear about the weight gain 😊 More excellent decluttering 👏
Excellent decluttering TC77 👏 You are now exactly on track to declutter 2026 items this year 🥳
All caught up 😊 so I am off to bed. Sleep tight 😴
P.S. I forgot to mention that when we were at The Midge Bite Café we saw a lady bottle feeding a black lamb before she put it in the back of her car 🥹
