@Green_hopeful Your trip reminds me of DS1 coming over to pick me up when I moved back although I was a bit closer in Lot et Garonne. It sounds like you had quite a day but days like that do happen and usually at the most inopportune moments - I'm sure it will be a source of amusement when you've fully recovered.😁 Love your mum's cat.💕

@MadamMim2013 I was so pleased the acer survived the assault by the mini digger which reduced it by about half - the branches are very brittle and every time the bucket swung over more broke off. Mind you, I'm now planning a bit of light cloud pruning for it this winter!

@Moorviews Now that I've accepted that clearing the brambles is a multi-year job I'm finding it easier - even if it's not less painful; the thorns really hurt. Good luck with yours.

@Brie Phew, now look after yourself - I'm resisting the urge to use the finger wagging emoji.🤣🤣

@Soontobeoap I now decant most packets into glass jars if I can, partly because the packets tend to split but also because in France where it was warm - as our weather looks to be getting - I discovered that there were weevils that cut neat little holes through the plastic to get into the packets. It's a full time job reading Ts & Cs these days and so glad you could track down your parcel.

@Dizzycap I love your garden too. 🌸🌹🌼🌻

Today was knit and natter. I'm so glad I made the effort to go and find the group as it's so good to go and relax and have a laugh. I've stopped myself from feeling guilty about going because I used to feel that I should be here as there is so much work to be done and so much decluttering to be done.

It's been blowing a hooley here and as I was Whats4pping my friend just now, a play tent came up the road and blew into my front garden and started attacking the border. 😱 I've moved it back to the road side edge and weighted it down with a few stones so hopefully someone will retrieve it.

5 bags of garden waste have been decluttered to the kerb as well, ready for collection tomorrow and DS1 yesterday kindly transported my 7 bags of compost down some steps to behind the garage. I'll move them into the back garden at my leisure as I want to tidy up the part of the garden where I generally store them before this lot joins the other bags in the pile. Hopefully the wind will subside tomorrow and the weather improve so that work can commence. Tomorrow I'm taking a friend to a garden centre she uses but I've never been to, (health issues means she no longer drives). This could be dangerously expensive. 🤣🤣

I have had a delivery of two foot stools - a grey one to go with the yellow chair in the summer house. A rouge one to go with the chair in my craft room which was hasn't arrived - meant to be here by 3.21 - message says they are running late.

I sorted another shelf in the airing cupboard - much tidier and less on the shelf now.

Decluttered - bubble wrap, cardboard box x 3, blouse x 3, tablecloth x 2, tray cloth, hankie, 14 doilies, tee shirt, 2 jumpers, apron, sheet, pillowcase x 2, dress and 4 lots of fabric.

Both dinner from freezer and fresh veggies from fridge.

Wish I had taken a “before” pic as I have made a seriously big space in my T shirt drawer. Just got to go through what I’m not keeping to decide where it’s going or if I have another use for it. I know I need some cloths for cleaning.
Got to go and get tea but might also do my cardigan drawer this evening.

mrs SD the cat was watching cat tv. We looked for it again but not found it. We travel with her three cats. They are so well behaved. Two of them are strapped into the back seatbelt and one sits on my mums lap. He is very elderly.

Did the cardigan and long sleeves drawer.

Have just listed five items on Vinted, got 3 for charity shop and one that’s going for cleaning cloths. Happy with that little job.

Got a fair bit done in the garden. 4 hours on and off with rain showers. I did another hour this evening. Mr V carried a big pot with a massive fern in it round from the back garden. With all the rain the garden is like a mud bath, unpleasant and slippery underfoot. Friend wants to come tomorrow, I shall put her off, I will hardly be able to walk. Had to get Mr V to just help me out of the bath!

I do have more plants to go out but need time to think about where they need to be.

J the builder called in passing to see the planting up.

I gave my friend some black mondo grass and another thing I have been given that I don't care for.

dND, you do right to go to craft club, although it is hard when the weather is perfect for gardening. So not recently then!

2. Sort out sleep patterns - initial targets: bed by 03:00, up by 10:30
3. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc.
4. Commence ‘Operation Financial Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
5. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
6. Plan & Execute ONE Major Project - 2026 New Bathroom
7. Target 2026 items out

Thursday continued: DH got back 14:20 & I headed straight out. There was a bus at the stop & the driver kindly waited 😊 Visited the bank to pay in cheque & get cash. Popped into Boots but they didn’t have the shampoo I wanted. Usual bus stop was closed so tried to find another one - after walking for 15 minutes with no sign of a stop for my bus & I being lost ☹️ I ended up treating myself to a cab. Apparently a couple of the roads were closed so buses were on diversion 😖 DH painted a section of ceiling & filled a few more holes. He also cooked cheesy pasta for our dinner 😋 Wudupa. We had a couple more showers during the afternoon but still no storm although it was very breezy & chilly.

Lovely chatty post GrannyKate & I hope you enjoy your DGC free time 😉 Oh well, another fanciful idea bites the dust 🙊 Perhaps you can hire out the jackhammer & recoup some of the cost as I cannot imagine it was a particularly cheap tool 🤔 I can vaguely recollect you mentioning your MiL’s pen collection 🙂 so am pleased to hear that it is down to a more manageable size 😉 Hope you managed to get the car valeted whilst you were hopefully winning the quiz 🤞I will keep my fingers crossed that you have just enough rain to make the ground soft enough to dig 🤞

Morning all.

As my craft room chair hasn't arrived yet - I sat in the yellow one to do my knitting last night. Very comfy and the foot stool getting my legs off the floor was lovely.

My craft room chair was taken back to the depot yesterday.

I had to take pain killers in the evening but had a good night. I have run out of 10 mg tablets so cutting a 50 mg in half - not an easy task.

I didn't ask J to drop by to do my bins yesterday - I could manage to get the black one up the drive as only half full.

Waiting for my J to arrive - got cardboard boxes to break up and there are weeds in the front garden to be pulled up. Then he has door furniture to fit and I want help to move furniture in the lounge.

I would like to try out the extended window cleaner with J's help. My upstairs windows are very mucky.

Hoping to get into town with my full shopping trolley for the charity shop.

I told DD I will happily buy her new pens/pencils, but only the amount that fits in her current storage. If she wants more, she has to use up what she has first. She does get through pens as though they are going out of fashion though!

Morning,

A wake up call for me. Awake 5.30, and did some tidying, and just after 6 realised I couldn't find my mobile, so more looking under piles and moving things around, Tried calling it but home phone didn't seem to connect then knocked router off its new place and no internet and realised I really need to be able to find my phone. Saved by the alarm on my phone going off at 7.50am. I'd placed on the bathroom bin which is under the sink!

DD1 coming round tomorrow and going to ask her for more help than just looking at the things I've set aside for her. Some papers out and 3 items in new CS bag. Definitely not setting an example to DD2 for when she comes back at the end of the month.
