Good questions thanks @PipneyJane . I think it's been on my favourites about a month, and yes, I have a couple of cardigans that would work with it. Shoes are always a problem but it would be okay with trainers (if we are still wearing trainers with dresses this year?) All I need now is some sunshine!
All that said, I think someone's got there before me as I can't find it again… there are similar ones but I'm not buying unless I find one that feels right.

Love the colour of the plimsolls @Laura_Elsewhere
@Cherryfudge How would you feel if it was the only dress in the shop and someone else bought it first?
I'm clinging to the hope that some of the best summers were very slow to start -but equally it could just stay miserable 😀

Oh, interesting question! I think I would be a bit put out but console myself that I didn't really need it, it won't be taking up space and can use the money elsewhere.
Alas, that could be said of quite a lot of my stuff!

In the hope that there will be warmer weather, I have bought the Gardeners’ World magazine for May (£9.99,) with the 2 for 1 Gardens visitors card and guide for the next 12 months. DH says that he will keep one day a week free from bowls matches this year. In return I feel inclined to cook for him on just one day a week.
Fashion on the Ration 2026. Coupons used, 6 pairs of socks non-wool 6, 4 cotton vests 12, sleeveless wool cardigan 5, total 23.
Grocery Challenge 2025, £5 a day for 2 pensioners. Total £1,825.
January £128.45/£155, -£26.55. February £122.55/£140, -£17.45. March £154.50/£155, -50p.7 -
Why do I feel like you’re doing some serious bargaining, @Nelliegrace , in order to go visit Gardens, etc?
As mentioned above, I’ve got yet another cold, and it’s made me very grumpy. All my plans for this weekend have gone out the window. DH is at his best mate’s, having a “lads’ weekend” today and tomorrow. I’d toyed with the idea of going into Town and window shopping +/-visit the clothes at the V&A and/or other museum. My other plan was to do some dressmaking. Instead, I’m curled up on the couch, watching telly, with not-quite-enough energy to knit more than a few rows at a time. If only my nose would stop running!

Awww, thank you. Perfect cup of tea, @MrsCD, and the boiling liquid has killed my cough.
Fortunately for me, I have leftovers in the freezer, so I don’t have to cook. Dinner tonight was part of a tub of Sophie Dahl’s Dhal, frozen in March 2024.

Previously I've only ever used the washing-machine dyes (either Dylon or iDye) which have always worked excellently- this is the first time I've tried the hand-dyes, because I wanted to find out how well they worked, because I want to be able to dye smaller things like a pair of plimsoles, too small for a machine-wash. Also, I can mix dyes more easily if I want to, or use only half the pack, or whatever…
I just followed the directions :)2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Pip, I need to get you to make some elderberry syrup this year- it has good solid modern scientific evidence that it reduces the number of respiratory infections you get, and when you do get one, it's shorter and less severe… you just need to find a source of elderberries!
Actually, you can buy it online… might be worth trying. The other useful bit of solid research is getting a good half hour of daylight every day, even in colder weather (push your sleeves up and wear gloves), which reduces respiratory infection frequency and severity.

I have spent all of my coupons and shall be second hand only for the rest of the year. I’m at mum’s this weekend as my landlady’s husband is back for Easter. She told me they were having a ceasefire over the long weekend. Thought I’d better give them some space. Mum started sniping at me the moment I walked through the door. I knew I was home.
She had some chocolate for me which I ate there and then. She is going to church on Sunday to see people. I refused and she said “I don’t bloody believe either but really”.She’s gone to bed and I’m on the sofa in my pajamas listening to a light programme on the wireless. I’m wearing a blouse made out of jersey that I got from the tailor. I gave her the coupons but I owe her 6d. What can I say. I’ll be avoiding her until the end of the month. The blouse is wine coloured. So lovely. Also comfortable. I bought one in navy and one in the wine/ magenta.
