DD finished the Attic 24 Harbour blanket, her 2024 Christmas present. I like the rippling waves effect. Granny would unravel outgrown knitwear and straighten the wool by drying it wound round milk bottles, and crochet it into striped blankets. There was a lot of grey from knitted school socks. I have made several wool blankets in the same way, some in random colours, and some using seasonal colours. They are much quicker than crochet squares, and I work the row end threads in as the work progresses so it isn’t a chore.
Fashion on the Ration 2026. Coupons used, 6 pairs of socks non-wool 6, 4 cotton vests 12, sleeveless wool cardigan 5, total 23.
Grocery Challenge 2025, £5 a day for 2 pensioners. Total £1,825.
January £128.45/£155, -£26.55. February £122.55/£140, -£17.45. March £154.50/£155, -50p.8 -
Love the blankets.
Those boots, @thriftwizard - I've got real boot envy! I have to declare a coupon spend, a pair of much less exciting (but still lovely) ankle boots, and a pair of slippers. One of the few things I buy new. So I think that's 4 for the slippers, seven for the boots. Hoping to keep everything else second-hand this year.

That's beautiful, @Nelliegrace . Quite a lot of knitting.
I am seriously wondering whether I should brush off my crochet hooks and create something, just to use up stash. Hmmm…. (I'm currently procrastaknitting, because the neckline of the cardigan I'm making requires some attention and I'm too knackered in the evenings. Seriously, I've only got two dozen rows to go. Why am I procrastinating???)

Hello all, I have coupons to declare.
I bought some plastic garden clogs - please don't ask where as I might get arrested as a spy!!! I'm assuming these would come under rubber bootees at 4 coupons??
I also got 2 bags of mixed yarn at the charity shop which I'm assuming are coupon free as the original purchaser would have 'provided' the coupons. Is that correct?
This thread has been so good at keeping me from impulse buying - I have too many clothes as it is but I keep forgetting what I have and was therefore tempted when out and about. I've still not liberated my sewing machine but that will eventually happen and with luck I will be able to save my coupons for special purchases such as decent leather boots for next winter. I'm not sure what to get that I can wear with knitted socks though?
Sorry I've been AWOL for so long, a lot of land work has been going on, (the back garden and veg patch). 😁 Dxx

Yet another new purchase. This time a singlet type top which goes with my pyjama bottoms (bought second hand last year) and which I much prefer to the baggy top that came with them.
I did make myself wait a day as often I wait and realise I don't want the item - but that didn't happen this time. It will see plenty of wear - I can also use it as another layer under blouses. It's just not something I walked into the shop planning to buy.
I think it could be described as an athletes vest - quite good material (uniqlo) in pale blue. That would make it 3 coupons.

I bought a pair of women's work trousers because I'm currently working on a building site. I think the new rules mean that I will now have to part with 5 precious points! (sigh)

I hope your new trousers fit nicely, @CapricornLass, and go with lots of your wardrobe, so that you can make multiple outfits with them. How long will you be at Site? Does your PPE fit or do you have to tape up the legs and wrists to make it shorter? (BTDT.)
Sorry about the points.

PS: I think you and I work in the same industry, although I haven’t been in a depot or construction site since COVID. I spent 5 years building a diesel refinery and 3 winters sitting in an ancient portacabin in the middle of a highways depot, wearing my coat for half the day. (These days, I’m lucky if I can escape the cashbook.)

Bought a lightweight 'waterproof ' (we'll see) anorak in a sale, so I'm counting it as 9 coupons.
I'm also waiting for a pair of sandals to use as slippers, also in a sale… I'll wait to count them once I know I'm keeping them.
