@beanielou all the best for your mum and shoulder
@grandmanerd well done. I’m so pleased to read this. I’ve been cheering you on in the background for years
I’ve been to L£dl for food shop and also bought their thermals. So I’m decked out in women’s longjohns but men’s long sleeved top as I wanted the length of the back although I’m small. Am much warmer now!My vision board will also be a list and includes reminders of ‘does this concern me’? It can be good to side step people’s opinions and actions at times. I’ll put a more positive slant on it. Being true to myself, that sounds better. I have already been avoiding a couple of people at work and my life has been mi h more calm. Just because some people have relentlessly negative views does not mean that I have to spend time with them.Today I’m grateful for a fab morning walk with my dog in the frosty park, soup when I got in from shopping as the hot food was what I needed, having sufficient money to keep cosy.Thinking of you all in this very cold weather. Some of my rellies only a couple of hours north of us have so much snow.Hope your school stays shut thrifty!8 -
Today, on 🐢 snow-watch the forecast 4pm snow in Leicestershire has been delayed due to lack of thrust. It is now expected at 4.45 on platform 2.
Very excited by your thermals @Rowan9, was only thinking yesterday I should get more. I did buy thick socks last week, which hopefully will help, but I am going to Mr L's tomorrow for the base layers. Thanks for the reminder.

Evening all
I am a bit stiff from yesterday's gardening efforts, minimal that they were, but got some things done.Changed the beds and washed some of the linen. Pegged it outside and it dried a bit. I must get it on the airer in a minute.Did some cleaning and tidying upstairs, and put away some shop stock.A bit of declutteringDD2 dropped off GS as she was going to exercise their puppy locally and it was cold outside. He decided he wanted to make biscuits. By the time I had worked out exactly what he wanted to make and we had found, measured and mixed the ingredients, DD was back, so I wrapped the tin, which had just gone into the oven, in a tea towel and gave her instructions for baking it. Then there was the washing up
Made a strange sort of leftovers pie for dinner, using up all kinds of freezer and fridge gravel, which OH was ridiculously happy about. It sure wouldn't win any awards, but it made his day
Still NSD # 2 for me, as I got a TV mag for OH and ordered a couple of small items online.Grateful for getting some useful stuff done, for using up lots of leftovers and OH being ridiculously happy at the result

My eyes have been very sore for the past 2 days which has limited what I can comfortably do. I have been watching old Touch of Frost episodes because I can listen to follow along and don't need to watch the screen all the time. I'm very snotty and keep falling asleep. I had aimed on having a 'dinner' today so yesterday evening I cut up and cooked a cauliflower, a head of broccoli, a bag of chantenay carrots (already topped and tailed) and a box of mushrooms. All done in the microwave (will be fine with more cooking because of the large quantities).
I had baked beans for breakfast (go to breakfast until bread for toast and yoghurts arrive on Tuesday - wasn't going to pay £7 delivery when it's free on Tuesday). At lunch I didn't feel up to dinner so had a tin of soup. Still not sure by teatime though thought of just doing chicken and stuffing (made by DS1) on a wrap. Final choice was a heap of cauliflower, warmed chucken breast with stuffing and some mushrooms, no gravy. Beautiful and just enough. Will try again tomorrow (they can go in stew or a curry if I can't manage).
Mostly just keeping warm (I saw snowflakes outside - very pretty but not for me) and not making any mess. Yesterday my shower was very late and I brought a tray of use ups back to the couch with me including wipes for the computer screen.
I have started to chop up a cabbage as there is some good bacon in the fridge (I didn't really do any festive food but I did put down a few items when I saw them in passing).
The cards still aren't done but I can't now get to the post box. Some have been culled (relatives who are already vulnerable who I don't want to put at risk) but there are a couple of people I need to write to.
I am taking things into the kitchen and bringing things back every time I need the bathroom. Bags and boxes are moving slowly. Grateful for layers (clothing and bedding), attempting cooking in slow stages (but very grateful for the tins), my puzzle book.9 -
My morning win was sitting and doing nothing for 3 mins.Today I am grateful that the side roads are clear enough to drive on, for how pretty the view of the garden is, for a warm house, for free online books and audio books, for online shopping at tosco who have Pip's gf/df nuggets in stock.Beanie , how did chips get manky in the freezer?NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!6

The chips were horrid chips specifically for the air fryer but were horrid. Time for them to go.apple_muncher said:My morning win was sitting and doing nothing for 3 mins.Today I am grateful that the side roads are clear enough to drive on, for how pretty the view of the garden is, for a warm house, for free online books and audio books, for online shopping at tosco who have Pip's gf/df nuggets in stock.Beanie , how did chips get manky in the freezer?I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Good luck to mum (& you @beanielou) for Wednesday onwards.
So still have lots of snow today. DS3 still 21 miles away but keen to come home. I messaged the family to see how the roads were out their way. They said they could drive into town or he could stay longer. A girl also stating there offered to take DS & friends to town, so we cleared the drive. Drove 14 miles to town, mostly in second gear, with DH telling me every 5 mins that it was a bad idea! Didn't even buy any supplies at Tosco where I picked them up, big snow cloud had appeared & didn't want to get stuck in town. Managed to get there & back safely, but it was scary in places & I was very stressed!! Made the friend walk to hus house from ours, he said it was waist deep in places!
Finished reading my book whilst eating my dinner then had a nap to settle my nerves. Finished my 1000 jigsaw afterwards.
Grateful for travelling safely, that my boy is back home & finishing my book & jigsaw

Wow, that sounds scary @Thrifty_Taylor. We have a little bit of snow here, and it is very cold and icy. Strangely my little rain hating dog enjoys the snow, though not sure his little short legs would be able to cope if it were waist high on a person
I had been intending to go out today, but the icy conditions have put me off. Obviously when I was working full time I didn't have the choice, but I do now. I am also less confident driving however. So I will do a load of washing, which I will probably put outside for a while as it looks to be sunny. Yesterday's load did dry a bit and has hopefully finished off on the airer overnight. Some of that will need ironing (boo!)I will also make a sausage casserole to use up more lurking veg. Not sure what else I will do. Tomorrow is supposed to be shopping day so I guess I ought to make a list. Not sure if I will go though, depends on the weather, and we can easily manage for another day or two without if need be.Grateful for being able to stay indoors in the warm and no longer having to go out in icy conditions.6 -
