At no point did I ever write or say anything personal about her. I never contacted her directly, always copying in the director. No direct whatsapps or anything.

What did you copy to the director if you ever wrote anything?

Is this not a civil matter between you and her?

No, she was working for a company - instructed as their legal secretary and agent. She is held to a higher standard than me against a person.

A person doesn't 'address shareholders' and cultivate a list through their job and then use it to email everyone in one hit, hiding the list, with no right of reply.

The company she represents has said nothing regarding her messaging.

It's like a person at <insert any ltd company here> using their customer database contact details to send out a bunch of lies about you - in this case 51 of your neighbours and then disappearing off into the sunset. Would that be ok?

Ltd companies have directors and secretaries.

"A Legal Secretary for a UK Ltd company provides crucial administrative and secretarial support to lawyers and the firm, handling legal documents, managing diaries, preparing correspondence, and ensuring compliance with company law, especially filing with Companies House for a private company."

No voting rights, but paid to make sure everything is done properly.

Being divisive with ranting personal grievances or utter nonesense isn't part of the job.Part of the paid job is being held to a higher standard than a regular person.

They’re normally called the Company Secretary though, if you are referring to the officer registered as such at Companies House. A “legal secretary” usually refers to a secretary in a solicitors office so it’s a confusing term to use.

Do you mean company secretary?  Are or were they listed at companies house?

Yes, they are also a company secretary at companies house.

A company secretary may not necessarily be also a legal secretary, but the role of company secretary when they're instructed as a managing agent for a landlord often requires a bunch of legal tasks which they're being paid to accomplish (ideally set out in a contract between them and the landlord). Managing leaseholder enquiries, providing legal paperwork (e.g. shareholder certificates) or answering conveyence queries in buying and selling, representing the landlord in legal matters, arranging insurances, managing fire and health & safetey inspections to regulations, possibly helping manage disputes etc. This is why I'm using the term 'legal secretary' yes they're a company secretary, but being paid to handle many legal responsibilities above and beyond that as a basic role.

Adhering to simple GDPR best practices, being divisive or throwing out any types of allegation, in my opinion makes them both liable for bringing trouble to the landlord and themselves.

Again, this is why they're held to a higher standard than me with a dispute with a civilian in the street.

I think you are misunderstanding a bit.  A company secretary performs an admin function for the company.

It is the company appointed as managing agent by the landlord.
  • I know what the function of a company secretary is. Do you know what the role of a legal representative is, as part of the roles and responsibilities of being a managing agent, as well as company secretary is?

No, it isn't a term of art I've ever heard of. Though I don't see the relevance - it looks like your complaint is simply against the managing agents, no matter what responsibilities you think particular individuals within the agents may have.
