You could try calling 202 if it is O2 contract.GaleSF63 said:All roads seem to lead to customer service on 4445. However... "We are unable connect your call. Please try again later."
32 minutes on the phone to o2; not sure what I've achieved. I will know in a few days when I receive another SIM. I think it will be a new number and I have to phone again to change it but half the time I couldn't tell what she was saying. This why I like landlines when practical.
Will update in a few days.0 -
Put the new SIM(s) in a phone and this tells you ways to check:

Update - sort of. I think I've managed to keep my old number but can't make calls. Settings seem to be ok. Pressure's off anyway - I don't care if people can't reach me for a time while I sort it out. Most people/organisations have my landline as well -if it occurs to them.0

Have you got any credit on it, if it's not on a contract?GaleSF63 said:Update - sort of. I think I've managed to keep my old number but can't make calls. Settings seem to be ok. You can usually check your balance either online, by SMS, or phoning the "top-up" number. That's the first thing I'd check.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Sorted. Wrong SIM activated - the one they apparently had no record of... I now have working phone and have kept my number.
Although the old phone has been decommissioned the contacts and messages must have been on the phone not the SIM as they are all still there which is handy.
Thanks to the people who helped.0
