I have to get a new phone as my 14-year-old won't do 4g. I will transfer my existing number. Will my contacts transfer with the number?

Is your old phone an Android or an iPhone? If so, are your contacts associated with a Google account or an Apple account respectively? If they are, thryll magically reappear when you connect your new phone to that account.N. Hampshire, he/him. The contacts won't transfer with the number. You will need to transfer them from your old phone to your new phone.
How easy this is depends on the phone you have and the new phone you are buying.• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.0 -
Looks like a session copying them by hand. Having had a quick run through it won't be too bad - there are a lot of redundant numbers -even 2 people who died several years ago!

I love the internet - ask a simple question and get totally opposing answers! I have an Android phone which I replaced recently, all my contacts were transferred over as were all my apps. Just follow the onscreen instructions on the new phone.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Which is fine if you are moving from Android to Android, however the OP hasn't told use what they are moving from/to. So may not be that simple.EssexExile said:I love the internet - ask a simple question and get totally opposing answers! I was wondering if it might be a "dumb" mobile phone, rather than any sort of SmartphoneTadleyBaggie said:

Some old 2G phones of that age would store contacts on the SIM card, with a limit of ~100.
You might get lucky.0 -
It's definitely not a smartphone! Very basic. Just a phone. Anyway I've started writing down the contacts I might need. I think I was hoping the contacts were associated with the sim not the phone.Emmia said:

How many contacts do you have? Are you sticking with a "phone only" device, or moving to a smartphone?GaleSF63 said:

Go to settings in old phone and make sure all contacts (delete any obsolete ones) are saved to SIM, transfer SIM to new phone, that lets you keep your phone number.Might need to request a new SIM from provider (SIM Swap) depending on slot size on new phone.0
