Hi all.
We have a joint acc with halifax. We use it for bills to come out and food shopping
we looking at swifching that to sandander and still having a halifax joint
santader - for bills
halifax - spending and mortgage come out (as we are with halifax)
anyone got a few joints like this? Or should we just stick to 1?

Remember if you move to Santander using the switching service (to get a bonus for example) your Halifax account will be closed.
Many people do retain multiple accounts. We just have one joint account as a central "clearing house" for all payments, bills, etc - which works for us. But I have had side hustles such as a (sole) Chase account when it was competitive.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards, Savings & investments, and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. We have sole accounts our salaries go into, a joint account the mortgage comes out of and a separate joint account for groceries.
We also have a joint savings account where we save up for improvements etc.
I also have other sole accounts set up for various purposes.0 -
It is always wise to have 2 current accounts (whether single or joint) with completely separate banks. So not Halifax & Lloyds.0

We used to do it that way but now do it all with Monzo, you can split your money into pots and set your direct debits to come out of those pots which is much simpler then having multiple accounts. We also have a few other current accounts as spares which we rarely use.
