Travel Insurance - new medical condition, double the premium

I took out an annual multi trip travel insurance policy, making all relevant medical declarations. Unfortunately I then had a medical incident (this didn't result in a claim at all as I was at home). As instructed under my policy, I notified the insurer. They informed me that an additional premium would now be payable as I had a new condition.
Is this right? I thought the whole idea of insurance was to cover you for the unknown. If they have already accepted my business for the year, how can they increase the premium? I do recognise they are now taking a higher risk by continuing their cover, but I hadn't made any mis-declarations when they said they would cover me previously

No, this is par for the course. If you have a similar incident while travelling it will cost them so there is a change in risk level from when you took out the policy. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
How far into the policy are you? Do you have a trip booked? Depending on the answers to that you could cancel the policy rather than pay the extra premium and get insurance with another provider but do your research first as you may find that you can't get cheaper cover.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
How much was the previous premium and how much is the new. If the original premium wasn't too high I would probably just accept the increase. You will probably find alternative insurers charging much the same.0
