Payments into deceased account

Parent has passed away.
I am executor.
I have used the 'tell us once' service and have had notification from one of the banks (nationwide) that the account is now frozen until probate is given.
Question,
What happens to payments that were going into the account?
The rent from a property that is rented out is currently paid into that account along with a few other payments like interest for a savings account
Do these payment continue to go in or do I need to have them redirected to an executors account?

I don't know the answer to the question asked, but just wanted to comment and highlight to others that Tell Us Once does indeed filter through to banks/building societies.
I asked my dad's bank how this happened as we were holding off for these similar reasons and they said it was the DWP that told them.1 -
As far as the property goes, it's quite important that the tenant is notified promptly that the Estate is now responsible for the property, and told where the rent is to be sent.
If you are not familiar with the world of being a landlord, I would get clued up ASAP. The House Buying, Renting and Selling board may be useful.
I'd say yes, you need an Executor's account. Nationwide don't do one (at least they didn't used to when I needed one). Start with your own banks, but if you're struggling to find one, it may be easiest to open a personal account and rename it.Signature removed for peace of mind1 -
You probably need to check with your bank. For my mother's current account with HSBC, payments could still be made into it but outgoing payments were frozen. The exception was for the funeral which was paid directly from this account.0

Once the account is frozen no payments can go in or out. You need to set up an seperate account to handle all the estate income.0

I have already set up an executors account.
The tennant has been notified that the estate is now responsible for the tenancy.
But, the rent is paid directly from the DWP.
Will the 'tell us once' service have notified them on this point as well?
Or do I need to contact them to get the rent payments sent to the executors account now?1 -
You need to contact the DWP to inform them of the new bank account details.se2020 said:I have already set up an executors account.

I wouldn't rely on this happening, at least in a timely fashion.WillowLeaf said:I don't know the answer to the question asked, but just wanted to comment and highlight to others that Tell Us Once does indeed filter through to banks/building societies.

Apart from anything else, it can sometimes take several weeks to get to register the death and get the Tell Us Once link, so far better to notify the bank yourself as soon as possible after the death.
DWP would know the details of any bank account that they are paying benefits into, but they wouldn't have records of all the bank and building society accounts held by the deceased - they'd have no valid legal reason for holding them. HMRC may well do, but I imagine it might take them some time to proactively contact every institution, if they do it at all.1 -
Excellent, I'd follow other advice to let DWP know yourself, but if you have any difficulties doing that, I'd ask the tenant to inform them. It's also important to be aware of when payment is normally made, and be proactive in chasing any which go missing because of the change of account. DWP will have a 'lead time' before each payment when it can't be changed, but hopefully also a system for tracking any returned payments.se2020 said:I have already set up an executors account.

The change of bank details has to come from the landlord, the DWP will not allow the benefit claimant to do it because of the risk of fraud.Savvy_Sue said:

Right, wouldn't rely on it happening it a timely fashion or at all. I was just surprised it even happened as I expected Tell Us Once to be government only as per their website "Tell Us Once is a service that lets you report a death to most government organisations in one go."p00hsticks said:
