Unasked cancellation and refund after email stated shipped

  • I thought I had made my last comment on this subject!

I spoke to joybuy again this morning.  They had placed a voucher for the difference 'loss of bargain' of £208 valid to Jan 6 on my account at midnight on saturday - it had gone in my spam folder.

I can decide after christmas whether I wish to try again.

Thanks again for all the advice and input - I learned some more things about online ordering from you,
This is where chargeback and s75 should end their liability if you was to go ahead again.
Stop looking for the cheapest with your fingers crossed.
  • I was in the process of buying a TV online, around the end of the November/Black Friday period and initially had the problem of 'awaiting delivery', goods alegedly on the truck when my order was cancelled and refunded, without asking whether I wanted a refund.  The price at that time was £751, before going up to £1099.  I spoke with customer services and they gave me a 'coupon' valid until 6 Jan. Since then, the price has gone up and down daily by £100, listed as 'discount'.

At the moment, even if I applied my 'coupon' I would be £50 more expensive than the original price in November.  My intention is to wait until tomorrow and see if the combination of 'discount/january sale' and coupon, gets me back to the original price!! (If I still want the TV).

I guess my question is can they muck about the price so much/frequently in the light of Consumer Act 2015 etc.  It's a .co.uk website and the company is registered in Uk, although it is a chinese importer.

Thanks for any clarification you gan give on price reductions.

I appreciate the original advice I received about 'choose a better company'

And to the extent there are rules about misleading pricing, that's just potentially for Trading Standards to prosecute, not anything which gives you rights to pursue.

thank you for the feedback on altering prices being legal and the reference to trading standards.  At this stage I am just interested in the legal position.

    Thanks Graham
