I buy at Richer Sounds they always look after me prior to purchase and most importantly after purchase.
Of course lots of other UK retailers too.

Just a quick glance would raise some issues for me, some strange wording generally and some unclear terms. I also don't like the fact they seem to anticipate banks refusing to confirm card use with them - makes you wonder what the banks can see that we can't.

A lot of it is explained away by mentioning this is a Beta site, and a soft launch - but it still manages to look like a Far east company going to lengths to not look like a Far east company, with possibly European warehouses?

Also transaction fees suggest potentially a currency exchange potentially
7.2 Customers should be aware that online payment transactions are subject to validation checks by the Customer's card issuer and Joybuy is not responsible if the Customer's card issuer declines to authorise payment for any reason. Please note, it is possible that the card issuer may charge an online handling fee or processing fee. Joybuy is not responsible for this.

I personally would not be spending any real amounts of money with this company.
Banks can't see anymore. Just they may see a lot of fraud to the company & as such it triggers a security alert...
In reality if a card is declined, people should be contacting bank, as sometimes it is just a simple timeout message & the transaction has actually been approved by bank.
Just the reply back to retailer took longer than expected, so retailer pushes out a declined message.
Which can lead to more than 1 transaction to same retailer. Which are not classed as duplicated, as they have different times & auth codes.

  • Ok, thanks, message recieved and understood.
  • I thought I had made my last comment on this subject!

I spoke to joybuy again this morning.  They had placed a voucher for the difference 'loss of bargain' of £208 valid to Jan 6 on my account at midnight on saturday - it had gone in my spam folder.

I can decide after christmas whether I wish to try again.

Thanks again for all the advice and input - I learned some more things about online ordering from you,
  • One look at that website would send me running for the hills - I'd take the refund and run.
It's yet further proof that asking AI things is often a bad idea; half of the time the answers are complete garbage.

The sooner this trend is over, the better. Stick to real answers from real people :)

Wow, you really are thinking about taking their bait? Why are you still engaging with them?

All part of the process to hook you, I strongly suspect.  I am amazed you got the refund in the first place, I wouldn't push your luck a second time.   Unless there's a product worth £208 or less that you can buy with the voucher without giving them any card details, but I suspect you'll find that the voucher can't be used in isolation.

I can see several reasons for the offer of a voucher, very few would be a good outcome for you.
