SINCE YESTERDAY GETTING MESSSAGES SAYING I AM USING A LOT OF DATA
I have a Samsung mobile phone. Since yesterday I am getting messages saying I am using a lot of data particularly on FB. I called EE but the chap was more concerned in trying to get me to take EE for my broadband. I have 5 M it is saying at 2M at the moment. This chap told me to switch off Facebook when I am not using it. Can anyone offer me more advice on why this is happening. It sort of scares me and want to turn the phone off I would appreciate any advice Thanks Sue Since I wrote this I have yet another message 13.12.

Your phone will tell you in the settings what app is using what data, have you looked at this?1

Apps like Facebook or Twitter, that update every time somebody posts, will tend to use almost as much data while running "in the background" as when you're actually looking at them, so the EE guy's advice is sound as far as it goes.Your monthly free mobile data allowance will reset on the day of the month when your contract started, and you'll typically get a warning as you approach it to give you a heads up about having to pay extra; annoyingly, if you go into Data Usage in your Settings, it'll show you how much you've used this calendar month, which probably doesn't match up with your account schedule. You can reduce your usage by connecting to Wi-Fi wherever possible - I'd double check that you're doing that when at home, it's easy to get caught out.0

Do you normally use WiFi, with mobile data only really being used when you're out and about?Have you accidentally turned WiFi off?N. Hampshire, he/him. I have tried looking that but I am not sure what I am seeing. I think I have switched mobile data off. Says 24 appt open. When I look at mobile data usage it says FB 1.06 everything else is much smaller.0

If you've turned off mobile data, and you still have an internet connection from your phone (eg. to this forum, or to Facebook) then you've got WiFi working. You'll need to remember to switch mobile data back on when you go out. Here is a page from Samsung support that might be useful:N. Shouldbt have to turn off mobile data, wifi should override it if a network is available and signed into, can easily see in the Settings if its connected to wifi or not.QrizB said:If you've turned off mobile data, and you still have an internet connection from your phone (eg. to this forum, or to Facebook) then you've got WiFi working. You'll need to remember to switch mobile data back on when you go out.0 -
