Credit received today so I rang EDF about any compensation and they have emailed to say I will receive it tomorrow but not how much . Again many thanks to everyone for the advice on this
On the face of it will be £40 compensation rather than £80 had you delayed contacting EDF until deadline had passed for initial £40 compensation to be automatically paid.

"Wait a further 11 working days before contacting EDF, potential compensation would double. £40 x 2 if initial £40 compensation is not automatically paid within 10 working days"  (Post 2)

Well here we are today and I’ve yet to receive any compensation so do I go direct to OFGEM or contact EDF first to notify them of my intentions ? Many thanks

You should now email EDF and inform them that two lots of £40 compensation are still due and if it's not paid within 10 working days you'll raise a case with the energy ombudsman, quoting https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/guidance/switching-compensation-guaranteed-standards-performance.
  • Subject heading of next communication to EDF  "Complaint".- They have 8 weeks before you can raise a case with Energy Ombudsman unless they issue a deadlock letter before that.
  • I think it would be fair to say that the point of the 10 day timeframe for requiring a refund is precisely that it can take up to 10 days for the refund to work its way through the various systems before it hits your bank account, and that a requirement to "refund" would reasonably be read to include receiving the funds. It's not an allowance for them to get around to starting the process, it's an allowance for the process itself.

This is best OFGEM link I can find, is of particular interest to me being as Scottish Power wrote a cheque for my Electricity final bill refund on 14th Calendar day of final bill despite me currently remaining gas customer with same active DD as when I had dual fuel with them.

(Cheque dated 11 December, posted using 3rd party bulk mail service, received on 19 December)

Within last 12 months, I have had £60 compensation from SP, £80 from Octopus, £80 from EDF, now playing for £80 from SP.  B)

Email received stating I will receive £40 compensation in 10 working days , no idea if this is for late refund or late compensation though as I have yet to receive it so will wait until something hits my bank account , probably around 10th January .

Should be £80 compensation being as initial £40 compensation was not paid within 10 working days (12 December ish) of when breach occurred.(28 November ish)
