Back in the day when I applied for a Santander account I was also rejected and had no idea why. It was just a silly current account and they were paying a good interest rate on balances of up to £20k.
I had no idea what I was doing and the rejection letter said I can complain to the ombudsman if I wanted so I did and suddenly they opened the account for me.2
