Moorside Legal, UKCPS court claim, defended

Hi,
In late September I got 2 tickets from UKCPS in my Uni Accommodation car park which I tried to appeal but failed and paid the £60 charge on both. I did contact the university themselves before paying and they said I broke the parking agreement and I had to pay.

Anyway, I got a letter from Trace debt recovery this morning that told me I have to pay £170 for a PCN that I failed to pay. I called them straight away and told them that I received two PCNs and paid them both. They asked me to email over a bank statement of proof of payment which I did. However, after studying the letter further I realised that the date of this PCN doesn’t match the date on the previous two I paid. Which means there was a third PCN. I never received any letters for this PCN and I am completely stuck on what to do now. As a student I can’t afford another £170 on top of the £120 I have already had to pay. What is my best course of action now? I definitely won’t be able to afford court costs if that’s where it ends up.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

But you should already know to ignore Trace, after reading the fourth post of NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST, an announcement thread where we beg for no  new threads about DRA threatograms.

You also paid £120 you never had to pay. I don't understand why you didn't come here first. You don't pay these scam invoices.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I do apologise but I didn’t realise the forum existed before today. The reason I posted was because I had already called and emailed Trace and after I read the newbie post it highlighted not to contact them. Seeing as I had already done that I didn’t know if I was still safe to ignore them or if the circumstances had changed?
    Thanks again.

Safe to ignore. Come back if you get a claim from the joke known as Moorside Legal.

Make sure your address is updated with the parking firm if you move. You must open every letter but we don't want to see Trace trash!

And NEVER pay or appeal a private parking charge without checking here first.

Hi, I’ve come back as I’ve received a letter from moorside legal demanding £170 or they will issue a County Court Claim in 30 days in which i will accrue court costs and legal fees. What do I do now?

If it mentions the 30 days deadline, respond with the LoC response template in the 2nd post in the newbies sticky thread in announcements

I Agree, more likely to be their debt collectors version

it reads exactly this: Letter of Claim

Our client has instructed us to collect the outstanding balance on their behalf. We are a law firm authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

You owe £170.00 for an unpaid invoice.

We're here to help you resolve this matter quickly and easily, and avoid court action. Full details of your case can be found at portal.moorsidelegal.co.uk. Should we receive further instructions from our client before a claim is issued, these will be added to the outstanding debt and updated on the portal.

Most people choose to pay straight away to avoid extra costs and court action.

Set up a payment plan through our Customer Portal

What happens if you don't act

If you choose not to reply within 30 days we will issue a County Court Claim which adds interest, court fees and legal costs.

If a County Court Judgment is awarded it can seriously affect your credit score for up to 6 years. This means you may find it more difficult to obtain credit such as mortgages, credit cards, loans, or any vehicle finance.

    Please don't ignore this letter.

Contact us today so we can help you avoid court and extra costs.

Yes, but if you search the forum you will find that their LBC is different from the LoC.
