Old TV, new soundbar

Hoping someone can help me with this because I'm not especially techie-minded. I have an old Sony Bravia TV (20 years old). I recently blithely bought a Denon soundbar to use with this, only to discover the TV was too old to simply plug in and play. The TV has one HDMI outlet, which I currently use with a Firestick. What I need to make the setup work (I think) is an audio extractor with an e-ARC socket. This would enable me to run an HDMI cable from the TV to the extractor, then another HDMI cable to the soundbar. What I'm confused about is how to fit the FireStick into this setup. Nearly all extractors offer multiple HDMI sockets, but can I simply plug the FireStick into one of these? If not, what do I need to do?

What is the model of both the TV and soundbar?

Is the fire stick the source of all your TV watching to go via the soundbar or are you also using the built in tuner for Freeview etc?

I used a Scart to RCA adapter to solve similar problem.

Check what ports are available on your soundbar and if you have spare Scart on the old TV.

    TV - KDL-S32A12U, soundbar - Denon DHT-S218.

I do have a spare Scart on the old TV.

Here is a pic of the connections on the soundbar.

Many thanks @MyRealNameToo and @Eldi_Dos for your quick responses, I'm grateful.

Perhaps something like this would work? Not sure since the soundbar specifies it needs an EARC/ARC hdmi connection. Once again grateful for all help.

@MyRealNameToo I watch TV pretty much exclusively through the FireStick and would like to continue to do so.

Can the fire stick go to the hdmi in socket on the soundbar and then connect to the TV via the TV hdmi socket?

That was my thought too, the manual for the soundbar gives this

I'd give it a go, can't remember if there's a Firestick setting that might need shoggling?

So you plug the Firestick into the HDMI In port and plug your TV into the TV port.

Your TV won't support ARC so you can't play what's on the TV tuner out of the soundbar but as all your content is via the fire stick thats a non-issue

Dont need that... the ARC/eARC is for getting the sound from the TVs tuner to the soundbar. You dont watch TV via the tuner so it's a non-problem.

@Grumpy_chap, @flaneurs_lobster and @MyRealNameToo, plugging the Fire Stick in as you all suggest worked perfectly, with sound suddenly booming out of the soundbar so gratifyingly loudly that I jumped! It would not have occurred to me that anything of the sort was possible, so many many thanks (sorry but I really don't understand electronics). The only thing is the picture on the TV looked weirdly fuzzy for a moment, but then seemed to more or less resolve itself - would I have been imagining that? Will the picture be a little bit worse because I've now got the Fire Stick plugged into the soundbar?
