UKCPS - HM Courts & Tribunals Letter

My wife had a parking fine from UKCPS in January 2024 when she was at the gym, Total Fitness in Wrexham. The gym was busy (as they are in January) and the car park was full, She parked in one of the disabled bays and asked if that was ok with the receptionist, and was told it was.
She later received a Notice to Keeper with a Parking Charge of £100. It was dark and there was no signage to speak of, and the picture provided of her in the disabled bay doesn't clearly show a disabled space as it was dark.
The car park is also free for gym members and as such there is no loss of payment in my view.
She appealed to UKCPS at the time, and they rejected it, so she just started ignoring them. She would periodically get letters from them, and from debt colleciton agencies and ignored those as well.
Today a letter from HM Courts and Tribunals stating that "somebody claims you owe them money" and that they could apply for a CCJ.
Do we have a defence here? The original fine was £100 (£60 if paid within 14 days) and is now up to £268.02.
What are our options? Do we offer them a token amount on the claim form or do we dispute it all. Do we contact the gym (she is no longer a member there) and ask them to get it cancelled?

It's just a Moorside Legal claim, same as on other threads.
Yes the Defendant can always defend (there won't even be a hearing, it will end with discontinuance next year) but this is easy and fully covered in the NEWBIES thread post 2.
Of course you don't offer money, crack on with the AOS then defence. A cinch.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks, I'll have a read through that post and come back if I get confused (which is likely)It's just a Moorside Legal claim, same as on other threads.

Assuming that letter is a N1SDT claim form, what is the issue date and upon what date do you plan to submit the AoS?2

I'm running through the dropbox instructions to submit my AoS, but when I put the claim number in and the password given, it's throwing out an error and I can't log in to the claim. Any ideas?0

You login to your government gateway account first, then navigate to MCOL
The people who then fail to login to MCOL do so due to using incorrect characters, misreading 1 as L or I etc2 -
I'm definitely signed in and it's still not working. The password is correct as well.Gr1pr said:You login to your government gateway account first, then navigate to MCOL

We only have your word that the password you are using is correct, but it's a typo by human being in the vast majority of cases we see on here, so I still believe that it's human error, despite your reply
The fact that you cannot login proves that it's not correct, because you are unlikely to get the claim reference number wrong0 -
Just checking - never seen the actual screen involved but are there different parts that can be logged into?1

Yes there is more than one box. The Defendant needs to put the details in for 'responding to a claim made against you'.
And it is likely that a lower case 'l' (ell) in the password is being read as a capital 'I' (eye) or vice versa. Or a zero as an O.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
