Car Battery for my Vauxhall Corsa
Options
Really hoping someone can help me out here because I'm struggling...I need a new battery for my Vauxhall Corsa (AA have been out and told me it needs a new battery, and has more than once needed a bit of a shove to start in a morning), and I can't seem to find one for less than £60. This seems extortionate as in Bradford they seem to be around £25 ish but up here in Scotland they're so expensive! Just wondering...am I looking in the wrong places or must I consign myself to handing over £60's worth of my hard-earned?
Any help much appreciated

Hello RichyRich
I'll move your thread to the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board.

Thanks for all your replies. I'm in Dunfermline (Fife, about 10 miles north of Edinburgh). YP Brings up only 2 Motor Factors shops...I'll call them tomorrow.
LOL No they're not 2nd user ones in Bradford...they're from a very reputable supplierbut thanks for the stereotype anyway

Just a marker, all batteries are not the same, if you intend keeping the car get a good quality one.0

Ok, with batteries, you'll either buy a known brand, which will have 2 or 3 different ranges, with different amounts of 'power' to start your car. (Trying to be simplistic, not clever/smart bottomed saying that). Which will have the medium-higher price tags.
The car parts factors, often have unknown brands, much cheaper, which are good for a year or so. In fact, you'll find EXACTLY the same battery, offered at different £$£$ depending on how long a guarantee you want. It just costs more, for a longer guarantee - the battery will be stenciled or marked, so they know which they charged you for, if it goes back faulty. It IS the exact same battery though!!
Halfords are good at offering options on their own make, so worth a look.
Best of all though, surprise, surprise, is Vauxhalls own brand! IF you can find a local garage, small time mechanic even, as long as they belong to the Vauxhall Trade Club - it's free for them to join - they'll be able to buy genuine Vauxhall parts at as cheap or cheaper than unbranded.
So they COULD, if they're fair, offer the correct battery & proper warranty, for not to much £$£$ & still make a profit!

Thanks to everyone for their help, ended up getting one at £40. Asked the guy how much just to buy it without fitting and he said well fitting's free, so got him to do it.
At least I can be more sure that the ruddy thing will start now!
Cheers
