Open reach network improvement & Full Fibre work

Hi, Openreach has just blocked off my drive way and the front of my house in order to make network improvements and do full fibre ready. Does anyone know how long this will take from first blocking access to finishing and removing the blockage? All I got was a notice shoved through my letter box last week saying they were doing it soon.

Best ask the staff working.,
When they did our street, they left access to drives when they were not working in that area.
But took at least a week, as one teams digs up, another team come & take the rubble away, next team do cable work, then rubble comes back & lastly team that dug up comes back fills in & re tarmacs.
Now when a house needs connecting they just dig in front of house (same process) to connect them.Life in the slow lane0 -
Hopefully they will allow access as and when needed as have workmen doing internal works in 2 weeks. They will need access to the drive when bringing stuff in0

How awful, totally unacceptable, complete disregard for occupiers. A week or less notice isn't on. Their need to carry out urgent installation shouldn't take priority over individual occupier needs and prior arrangements. I'd pick up the barriers and leave them in a neat pile somewhere out of the way. Bloody cheek of it !2

Tend to be there to stop people falling into the trench.subjecttocontract said:

When my street was done they provided ramps over the works for both pathway and driveway access to individual houses. They need to leave the trench open until the last connections are made across the local area and all the cable lengths test OK, in case there's a faulty length that needs revisiting. Whole thing took about a fortnight.0 -
That's all perfectly ok and would be entirely acceptable provided reasonable notice was provided. IT WASNT. So, if it were my property it wouldn't be happening and I'd do anything and everything to ensure disruption until they came to their senses and started negotiations. Don't let them walk all over you, I'm sure they try it on because most people are to 'nice' to say no. Mind you, I do like a good argument !😁😁😁😁0

You'll need to ask the people doing the work as it will depend on exactly what they are doing and how long the street it etc.0

Concerning your earlier comments about removing barriers and leaving them elsewhere. The barriers are a requirement under the NRSWA and to interfere with them is a offence. Is there no one in your area with limited vision? who might fall into a unguarded excavation or chamber. If such a eventuality did happen I can assure you it does not get brushed under the carpet but a full investigation takes place and usually ends up with the authorities taking action against someone.subjecttocontract said:That's all perfectly ok and would be entirely acceptable provided reasonable notice was provided. It always bemused me when I was involved in this line of work how many people seem to be at war with the world and when you speak to their neighbours the usual reaction is a roll of the eyes and "you want to try living beside them"Play with the expectation of winning not the fear of failure. Let us hope that if he does go ahead with his nonsense, that none of his neighbours who are perhaps looking forward to getting FFP don't do the same to himEldi_Dos said:

Don't they usually erect barriers a while before starting to dig holes ? Moving them away from my drive before they start work, so that I could gain access to it, would seem to be sensible. Nobody is suggesting moving barriers to create a hazard. They really need to put more effort into forward planning these events.0
