Not quite understanding the Barclaycard Rewards C/C

I opened one of these as we were going abroad in August. Spent on it while away & had the D/D setup to take payment in full because as I understand it there's no 0% on purchases & I didn't want to be charged interest.

Since then direct debits have been taken but they never clear the balance.
I seemingly continue to earn cashback (at pence) on the account each month but the statement also shows no sign of interest being charged - which I was expecting on account of the balance for some reason not being cleared.

You can also never message them because they're forever "making improvements". They need to be improving the messaging service & make it actually work!!

Trying to avoid a 30 minute phone queue so any idea as to why the balance never went to £0 & why I'm not being charged interest since the balance isn't being paid off?

Are you clearing the whole balance on the card or the statement balance?

Are you DDs definitely paying the due amount, silly question I know but worth checking.

I have a Barclays reward card , I clear the full statement balance each month the one showing as 'payable' not the minimum balance via a DD and don't get charged interest.

I'm not a heavy spender on it, Just had a look, my balance last month was £127.77 , the actual amount due when statement produced was £75.33. my DD paid the £75.33 and I'm showing no interest.

The DD should be taking how much the statement was for, it doesnt need to clear the charges made after the statement was produced, thats picked up by the next statement and tis associated payment.

And to be clear, if you pay the statement balance in full there is no interest to be paid.  I try to time large purchases to be just after my statement dates on my various cards to maximise the interest free period and squeeze a few more pennies out of interest in my savings accounts.

If you are spending on it after the statement date your balance will never clear.

All that matters is you pay the full balance on the monthly statement by the statement date and you will then never pay interest.

I'm at work at the mo so can't really dig in to the account right now.

But when setting up the DD I chose balance in full (rather than minimum payment) as the option.

We went away in August, spent on it over 3 days & I expected by certainly the second DD due date that the balance would be £0 but it wasn't. The card hadn't been used since.

It's been used again now so that'll bump the balance up but I was expecting between the 3 days use in August & now for it to end up as a £0 balance at some point when it wasn't being used after those 3 days.

All down to the date of the transaction, the posting date of the transaction, statement dates and payment date.  It is only by looking at your statements that you will know the trailing balance each month.

My last payment in full on a Rewards card was mid November.  The date of the first transaction was mid September and that was two days after I had used the card for a purchase.  That's 58 days in total between spend and payment.
