EasyJet Flight delay to following day

Hi

wondering where I stand with regards to a claim from easyJet.

our flight was delayed on Sunday night from CDG to EDI 20 mins before boarding was due to commence. EasyJet staff in the airport were non help whatsoever and couldn’t tell us any info at all including hotels until eventually we were told to Queue at a side door for bus to come and take us to accommodation for the night. We received no prior warning that it was cancelled and it didn’t even show up in my easyJet app but others on flight received this info about the delay. We eventually flew at 1155 on the following day.

the reason I’m asking is because others on the flights updates changed three times and it looks like easyJet are changing the goalposts so they don’t need to pay out.

firstly there was no info about the reasoning, then it was air space restrictions, then it was circumstances outwith their control.

our pilot told us the following day that EDI runway is getting resurfaced at night and it would appear that there would’ve been no chance that our flight would actually have landed that night at Edinburgh

    Never mind Ive found out

Depart CDG 2200, arrive EDI 2250, now if on time it would have landed before the overnight runway closure, it would have only needed 55 minutes of delay to mean it couldnt land at Edinburgh, and the rest of the delay would have indeed been out of Easyjet control so they are correct when they say nothing is due.

Really depends what the initial delay was, even then you are going to struggle here I reckon.

Assuming you've had a compensation claim rejected, what does it say is the reason for that rejection?  Unfortunately there isn't a public domain data source of such reasons, so if you disbelieve the airline's version of events then you have to justify that - once you get a final response from them you can escalate to AviationADR for independent review if you're still unconvinced.

Not a great idea to schedule a flight so close to the runway closing, but that's what you get with easyJet.

I'd argue it was entirely foreseeable, but you really would have to argue.

Not really EasyJet-specific though and a line has to be drawn somewhere - a week on from OP's experience, in the hour leading up to the last scheduled arrival tonight (23:15), there were ten Ryanairs, nine EasyJets and one each from four other airlines.  All made it in before runway closure....

Indeed, and tonight you even have a KLM due in at 2310 and a BA not long before this. Are they cowboy outfits also for doing the same @ThorOdinson ?

Who said anything about cowboys, @la531983, if that is your real name?

You were essentially the one suggesting Easyjet were cowboys by running flights close to runway closure times, merely suggesting even the beloved flag carrier airlines do exactly the same.

Not sure what my name has to do with anything. You are aware you dont have to use a real one on here yes?

My OH is currently working on the resurfacing of a regional airport. They don't start work until around an hour after the last flight, there have been some delayed flights but only by 30 minutes.

The whole contract is only 4 weeks, so there is only so much flex when you take into account weather stoppages and delayed flights.
