UW, Econ 7 and Dimplex Quantum heater

I am sure read them the other way around 2230 - 0030 GMT and 0230 0730 GMT. And then despiute no change - thats plus 1 BST.And at a guess - if UW have set a standard E7 profile for tariff (e.g. solid 7 hrs starting 00:00 or 00:30 GMT for instance are 2 common ones) and left the old 22:30 ALCS activation - most of any current charge is likely to be recorded at day rate.So as above QRizB checking the ALCS activation isn't enough - as per at least one of the Rosie1001 mix up - the tariff timings and the ALCS calendar are seperate data sets. And again their is a risk that UW only updated one set - and not to match the old EDF regional special 2+2+5.If you have it - your IHD is likely to tell you the current live tariff rate - in p/kWh - its likely your meter certainly will - iirc its the same model as Rosie1001 - you shouldn't have too much trouble seeing the active rate or the p/kWh at the meter - apart from the forecast rain.Like I think this example - meter - at peakAnd on her matching IHD - off peakYoull also notice the little LC1 contactor symbol on her display in some of her photos - that iirc is the ALCS indication - it changed between 10-b and 12-b meter models - so make sure you read correct sense.Ive never had them mismatched - but for E7 meters without ALCS - Ive often thought to myself that the Next Tariff countdown indicaton / timer - the + and the 6 10 min bars - would be driven by the tariff times and not the ALCS times - but only a personal guess. So maybe no need to go out - especially if like me - there's an amber warning for rain in place for next xx hours.1

I always say I can bore for England in the topic of Econ 7 and should I ever be on Mastermind, storage heaters would be my specialist subject 🤣QrizB said:

@Scot_39 I think you are right - they have only switched for the first couple of hours, then switched back to peak and stayed on peak. That’s my guess, anyway. My IHD is very basic and frequently loses connection, so I will investigate the meter. Thankfully though, not out into the rain, but out of the door and down some stairs

It's 20 years since I had storage heaters & E7, and I'm a bit rusty on the details. Let's hope we don't end up on opposing pub quiz teamslilac_dawn said:

You are lucky. I am half considering moving at the moment and have to say returning to mains gas would be another reason to leave here.0 -
.... and the answer (so far) is the immersion has switched itself on but the meter is charging peak rate

Sounds as above like UW have set new tariff timings - but not the ALCS calander to match. You might be able to insist they match the old EDF 2+2+5 - IIRC others have managed to get other suppliers to reinstate it - after losing it - if you prefer it (other posters have). But whichever way - whether 2+2+5 or single block 7 - register based billing will only be correct if tariff times and ALCS calander times match.2

UW didn't tell me of their timings - I just went by whether the Econ 7 circuit was kicking in. Will they be able to tell that the ALCS isn't matching? Just wondering how painful the conversation will be with them.
It still hasn't switched so I'm guessing it has 00:30-07:30 as night rate which means for the last month I've only been getting 5 hours of Eco 7 and 2 hours each night have been billed as peak.

Will they be able to tell that the ALCS isn't matching?I don't know if they will be able to read your current settings, but (if you can find someone at UW who understands your problem) they will be able to send a new set of timings out to your meter that should replace the current ones and be self-consistent.
Unless you're really lucky, frontline customer support won't have a clue what you're talking about. I suspect you'll need to be referred to a more specialist agent and might even need to use their complaints process.lilac_dawn said:Just wondering how painful the conversation will be with them.N.
