I finally got through to a U.K call centre yay 🥳

they gave me a very good deal with unlimited data texts & calls for 12 months £20.80 so was gonna take it!

but they were really stressing me out 😭 as they told me I had to start a new deal with a temp number with new SIM card (Can’t have eSIM) then when Sim card arrives put it in my iPhone then they will transfer my number to it! I was stressing out massively as concerned I would be paying for 2 airtime plans & that way seemed too confusing for me 😭

I just wanted to keep same Sim Card but update my airtime plan but was told I can only do that if I pay my device plan off in full!

Next Saturday I am going to the o2 store to chat to them and get this sorted & nipped in the bud got till 8th December to sort it!

I feel like 02 have let me down massively I just want to scream 🤬 will do that on Black Ops 7

    Hi All

Following O2's price increase to £2.50 next April from £1.80 I phoned them yesterday and (nicely) told them what I thought about it, and said I was mindful to leave. I have a SIM only contract, paying £12.99 for 30GB of data, plus the usual unlimited texts and messages. After some discussion they offered me a new 24 month contract at £8 per month for 35GB of data, texts & messages as usual. A worthwhile call; I've saved almost £5 a month, and got 5GB more data. I had to do very little haggling.

For the last two years I've renewed my annual contract by quoting the uswitch rate of £8 for 40gb. It increased by £1.60 each April. I've just tried it again, but they wouldn't offer it to me, but gave me the £8 for 35GB on 24 month contract, increasing £2.50 each April. Must note I need to give 30 days notice after the contract finishes.

I only use 2-3 GB of data per month anyway, so the small decrease makes no difference at all to me.  I need to be with O2, or a carrier, as we live in a NOT-SPOT for everybody else, and don't have landlines anymore. Plus the free roaming in Europe is very useful.

I think there was a survey on MSE a couple of years ago, the actual amount of data that most people use was under 5GB IIRC.

  • Why not just switch to smarty £8 a month for 50gb and rolling monthly contract with no price increases?  I don’t understand why people want to pay more? And  have a lengthy contract to boot…

We have to use an O2 carrier as the others have very weak signal strength in our area.

Then it's Giffgaff, Sky Mobile or Tesco Mobile.

Hi, anyone got experience , good or bad, with id mobile?  me and the Mrs both have a sim only deal with O2 for 40gb which was £8 when taken out but has been £9.80 since April and will be £12.30 next April!! We are just out of contract and are looking at deals. Rang O2 retentions and they wouldn't match the uswitch deal of 40GB and £7.50 on a 12 mnth contract. Offered us 35GB at £8 with the usual rises in April on a 24 mnth contract. Not too bad but iD mobile has 50GB at £8 with no increases on a 12 mnth contract.
We don't need that much data but do need EU roaming  so need at least 30GB and iD mobile is 5GB more allowance that O2 there too.
Other things to consider are losing Priority and airtime rewards aren't supported on iD mobile but you can apparently cash in your money for a fee if you tell them?
On carohone warehouse there's £25 cashback on top so each SIM will be £45 cheaper with iD for the first year than taking up the new offer with O2 and assuming we can get a similar deal next year, considerably cheaper than O2's second year of contract which would be £146 each sim (£12.16 mnth)

So, what's iD mobile like for coverage in the UK and roaming EU, we usually go to France/Italy. Sorry it's been a bit long winded. Many Thanks.

Both ID mobile and Smarty use the Three network. ID mobile is owned by Curry's whereas Smarty is owned by Three.

Smarty have black friday deal of 50gb for £8 a month on a rolling contract. 3 of our house hold are now on Smarty and we would recommend them. With no lengthy contract you can try it and switch again if you need to.
