Advising anyone to use a portable electrical appliance in a bathroom, especially one with loads a wet/ damp laundry is quite simply bad advice.
We don't use that bathroom, we have 2. I was trying to indicate size.
Like you I have a dry (unused)bathroom - but this is apparently the same risk level as one used for active showering and bathing which is wet, simply by virtue of having a bath in it.

No one said it was the same risk - just that the same rules apply.
Wiring regs dont make a distinction between used and unused bathrooms - just bathroom / shower rooms vs other rooms.
    It's still legally a bathroom.
And you dont have to be using the bath or shower - for the pipework to spring a leak - and risk flowing all over an unattended electrical extenion lead socket and plug.

I guess that rules out using them in utility rooms and kitchens then
Except not the same - as far more likely to have proper wall sockets to use - not a trailing socket as in case of most bathrooms.

And electrical regs for bathrooms again are for bathrooms and are the regs in the UK whether you like it or not - so again not the same at all.

    Getting silly now.

Uk wiring regs exist for a reason.

    End of.

We don't use that bathroom, we have 2. I was trying to indicate room size. I think this is by far the largest response I've caused in all my years here. 😲

My final comments are: yes, it's plugged in outside the bathroom. The door cannot be left open as the orange cat would reorganise all washing to the floor.
Finally, you can't risk mitigate against stupidity but thankfully I am not in fact stupid!
I was once at a leaving do and some of the young lads where getting a bit frisky and boisterous when the lovely Italian waiter stated they were not insured for stupidity, its a phrase that has stuck with me since.

Its not something I would accuse you of , but what you are doing I would describe as unwise and even more unwise to advocate that it is acceptable, still as long as the cat is ok all is well.
