In January 2027 HMRC will get a new selling database for sales from online sales 2026. They expect to make billions back once its new systems have processed people's selling activities. They work out every quarter from 2026. Check that with information provided and banks used for payment. Then pass the information over to DWP to see if there are overpayments owed.

That's irrelevant to the OP, though, as they only sold £280-worth of their own personal effects.

A lot of what I'm seeing online seems to be the HMRC YouTube account about doing self-assessments. Seems to have confused a lot of people selling online.
