DCB Legal Letter of Claim on behalf of UK Parking Control Limited

Hello all,

First of all - I just want to say that I HAVE read the newbies thread - multiple times. I have also searched the forums, and read a lot of other people's threads.

I am aware, that people often take a dim view of creating yet another thread so that people can answer the same old 'boring' stuff again - but I am really quite confused.

I'm at a point where, I mainly just want to pay the £170 they are demanding so that I don't have to deal with the aggravation of dealing with everything, which includes trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do and risk making a mistake.

I know that this is just playing in to their 'scheme' and so I am hoping someone here can talk me through please, what exactly I need to do.

I have received a 'Letter of Claim' from DCB Legal, acting on behalf of UK Parking Control Limited. The letter is dated almost three weeks ago, and the alleged parking charge is dated back in May of this year. The parking charge allegation, from what I can tell, involves my registered vehichle parking on private land that is for 'registered users only'.

If I did park where I shouldn't, I wouldn't have a problem paying a penalty notice as I would not have intended to contravene any regulations - however I do not remember knowingly doing so (or the signage perhaps was not clear, I don't know) - my problem is that this 'letter of claim' is the first correspondence I have actually received.

I am in the military, and as such all my mail goes to a military base - which is notorious for losing mail or misdirecting it. I am also away from home for long periods of time, and it is possible that during this time any mail I received may have been returned to sender. The bottom line is, this is the first I am hearing of it - and I'm already some 3 weeks in to the 30 days the letter gives me to respond.

The letter does specify that "the debt is 170, which includes the parking charge and debt recovery costs'.  I would gladly offer a £60 settlement without prejudice if that were an option (as it would likely have been on any penalty charge notice which I did not receive); however £170 seems a bit steep.

    Your situation is no different.

Return once, or even if, you get an actual COURT claim.
  • Okay, so you're saying ignore the letter of claim until I get the actual court claim? That makes sense to me.

What does the actual court claim letter look like? And does that just again give me an option to pay? Or at that point do I need to submit a defence... or?

And my only concern with that would be missing that letter as well due to the unreliable mail system where I live.

UKPC signs are rubbish which is why the DCBL discontinue thread on herewhich  shows the the money scam cannot go to court ...... Court judges do not like money scammers. This low life legal TRY IT ON so play the game with these clowns .... YOU DO NOT OWE £170 .... IT'S A DCBL SCAM

Can you get pictures of the signs, UKPC signs really are rubbish

  • Hopefully you can view those images?

I'm not sure what signage is there, I think there is something on the wall of the building and I don't know what it says.

It is a free car park though, with registration via a tablet in the bar inside - I'm not saying that the driver of the car on this day did in fact enter the details however.

    Hello all,

Have you read this one?  Start around 10 pages from the end - they're all the same - and read exactly how the claim against you will pan out. Simply follow court protocols and forum advice for your eventual inclusion in this thread too.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    So again, just to confirm:

I wait for an actual "court claim" ? And hope they are bluffing?
Or do I need to write to them 'disputing' or refusing?

Whatever you do, DCB Legal will make a court claim against you. That doesn't matter because as long as you file a defence online they will discontinue. The circumstances are neither here nor there because their business model is simply to churn out court claims, mop up the 50% that pay and the rest are just discontinued.

But as your post is intermittent I really recommend you make arrangements to have the potential court claim sent to an address where somebody can open it for you and email a photo of it to you.

Email info@dcblegal.co.uk and tell them you deny the alleged debt and will defend any court claim but that you are serving abroad and the correct address for service is your name at (friend's address).

And keep a record of your email being sent.
