So bottom line is...you would recommend a hive ?0

It's what I have, and find very effective. It's neat and easy to use, and it'll work well with your boiler.Tiggy777 said:So bottom line is...you would recommend a hive ?
There are a number of alternatives, each with individual pros and cons - the Hive is the one I know.
With your age of boiler, I'd personally buy a good second-hand unit like the one linked to - it'll see your boiler out
Your new boiler, whenever that happens, will likely suit more dedicated controls to maximise its efficiency, but a Hive will be ideal with your current baby.
If you know anyone with a Smart control, you can always ask their opinion, but I think you'll be chuffed with a Hive Mini, or even the full-sized version..

You did mention getting a metal filling lever rarher than the plastic one (which l like the idea of). I have tried to source one but failed...any chance you could please point me in the right direction to ensure l get the right one.
Many thanks for all the help, support and assistance .

I'm pretty sure this is the correct one, but cannot be responsible if I get it wrong. Pretty sure it's the same as I have on mine. There are lots of others for the newer CXi, but they have a different part number. When I have time, I'll try and check if they are actually the same - perhaps just a part number update? You can always ask GW themselves - they are likely to have a 'chat' or Fb presence. Tell them the year and serial number, and that your plumber asked you to get the part. For Hive, are you going new or second hand? Your call, but personally I'd go good-2nd in your case, as the boiler has, ooh, 5-odd years expected life yet?I fitted two 2nd-hand Hives in the local hall, both as good as new, and been faultless (well, other than early connectivity issues...)* in operation - they must have been there for 5+ years now.* I called up Hive as I was there, and they sorted out the issues from their end - another reason why I'm impressed with them. Clearly they had some software glitches to begin with, but no probs since then.I have two Hive units myself, too. I think they may be 'new', but I certainly got them on t'Bay at way below full price. (One was a rare 'wired' version, now worth more than gold...)

For Hive, if you plan to use the phone app, then go ''Mini' - it's neater and cheaper.
If not intending to use the App, then go standard SL3 with the knob, as it's easier to program as a standalone unit. (The Mini isn't!)
Obvs, the standard one will also work with the app,0 -
