Open Cash ISA without Photographic ID

I have tried to open a Cash ISA with Trading 212 for my sister but she has no photographic ID. Does anyone know of an ISA account which can be opened without this please?. It seems very unfair that those without this means of ID are excluded from getting the best rate. Thank you

I have opened numerous ISAs and never had to supply photo ID, so I think the answer to your question is just to try someone else rather than T212, although they are not the only ones to ask for photo id.

T212 is a provider whose target customer base is basically younger people.

It's impossible to answer that as a generalisation, because it's typically applicant-specific.  Most financial institutions will attempt to verify ID electronically (via data held by credit agencies) and it's only if this check fails for whatever reason that a manual ID check is requested, so it isn't possible to confirm in advance if an account can be opened without photographic ID being needed.

Out of curiosity, why are you trying to open an account for your sister, i.e. do you have any formal authority over her finances?

Easiest option (but probably not the best interest rate) is to use the same bank where she already has a current account or savings

It would be more unfair if customers in their target market had to pay for those who create extra costs and are not in their target market.

The forthcoming digital ID will hopefully help people like your sister, but it will take at least a couple of years for this to be rolled out.

She could help herself out now by obtaining a driving license or a passport or going to a different institution that doesn't need photo ID and instead make use of data held with CRAs. Any potential "digital ID" will be irrelevant in this respect.

It sounds like a potential security benefit that someone is unable to open an account in another person's name without providing ID to prove who they are.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

So she has no passport or driving licence photo ID -----> she might want to get either:

Voter Authority Certificate (a free photo ID issued specifically for voting purposes in the UK).
PASS card (Identity card bearing the Proof of Age Standards Scheme hologram).

But i don't know if the bank/ISA provider will accept either one.

Given the widespread lack of acceptance of such lesser IDs by financial institutions (see the other T212 thread linked above), it would probably be worth researching if there are any who'd accept them before applying for the cards.

    Fair point
But im just surprised the sister doesn't have any photo ID (there's no mention of it being a junior ISA so ive assumed the sister is 18 or over).
Also (on the assumption the sister is 18 or over) am i right to assume she has never voted? ------> i would defo be getting a VAC immediately to exercise my right to vote (but that's just me, others might not see the point in voting i suppose).
