Can my radiator be fixed or do I need to replace it?

Turns I also have an email for my boiler warranty registration but nothing specifically for the radiators. I was stupid not to ask for that.

I'd contact Midland Gas to ask if they have invoices going back that far. They surely must do, as they have warranties that long!
I think there's every chance that Ultraheat will do the right thing, especially if you tell them you are happy to fit the rad yourself, so all you are asking for is a new rad, not labour.

I've taken off the radiator and I've found the problem I'm sure. I took it off and turned it upside down, these things are flipping heavy! See picture below of where the hole is. It's so tight and near that bar that I couldn't peel away much of the paint.

Ultraheat said to call back on Monday.

You must have some CH invoices from that time? Your boiler is still under warranty, isn't it? Who services it to maintain the warranty - the installer? Surely they will be happy to write a confirmation note of what they installed?
I get different gas guys to service my boiler and they fill out the boiler service book which I have. The only paper I still have is for the boiler and a gas safety certificate dated 2017.

Interesting. Pretty obvs it's where the reinforcing bar is welded to the rad wall.
Why, I don't know why, but someone will. Thinned wall due to weld? Corrosive flux left behind? Whatevs.
I'd say that's a good result, as there is no suggestion of internal corrosion as such - the brown rust stains will be from the outside, I think.
    Tell Ultraheat you have pics.

Just to close on this thread.

Unfortunately I couldn't get a hold of my original boiler/central heating guy - I can only assume he went into retirement as he was pretty old. I tried with Ultraheat customer services and whilst they were trying their to help me without any paperwork it kept coming to a dead end.

I have a young family including a 1yr old and this radiator is in the living room so I had no choice but to do something urgently. New radiator was fitted by one of their suppliers with the new valves yesterday. Set me back £200. It's very annoying that these companies don't put the price including VAT on their websites, it's only when you go to pay you find out.

Thanks for the update - that's all a reasonable price.
Happy Warm Room and Chrimbo.
