Evening all.
i was awake at 5.30 this morning, so by breakfast time I had cleared my desk and done a money shuffle. After breakfast I emptied the overflowing recycling bins in the kitchen into the separate paper and plastics/tins collection bags (we're waiting for a blue bin for mixed recycling, yippee!?!), loaded the DW and wiped down the worktops.
After the u3a wildlife walk in a nature reserve that is full of old mine workings, as well as a sculpture trail, I went shopping in M€rry H€ll. The car park was already full by the time I got there, but someone drove out of a space just before I reached it. First stop was the Air Ambulance CS, where I decluttered various odds and ends (but they refused some good quality plastic hangers, so these also went in the recycling bag when I got home), and then I walked to the very far end of the mall (about half a mile), checking out the bedding in various stores en route. I also dropped off a bag of medications packaging in the recycling box at the big chemist's. Finally, on the way back, a small top-up shop at Mr A--a for the bits that Mr Al-- doesn't sell: here I met a checkout operator who went out of his way to make sure that I was ok, as I was very tired by then and struggling with a large bag of Rosie's food. I don't usually fill in customer questionnaires, but I have done so this evening in the hope that this chap will get a well-deserved commendation from his manager for giving exceptional customer service.
I didn't achieve much else before cooking our evening meal, but the Dy$0n is already upstairs and raring to go in the morning!

@roundtuit That's my roommate's problems too - other people also tried to clean her house - and in throwing things away without asking, have caused her to hold n to everything she can no matter how worthless. We will be trying a different approach. It is something I did with her before she moved here and we ran out of time so a lot was packed without regard to whether she would ever want it again (a box of paper napkins?). One of our other roommates is going to sit with her and have her sort boxes one at a time - with her making the decision as to what leaves that house and what she holds onto. I discovered that if I just sat there and said -"Try this box next" Do you want to keep that?" and words to that effect, she could clean up. We will trying that again.8

Morning all xx
I'm up, made my bed, showered, dressed, packed my lunch bag, eaten breakfast, changed Joey's seed and water, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, and I'm supping a brew. Heigh ho, heigh ho, it's off to work I go 🙃
@weenancyinAmerica a therapist (there have been a lot over the years) once told me that I have an advantage as I recognise what is 'rubbish' and have no problem throwing out trash. Hopefully your roommate is the same. No stacks of moulding food and empty packaging here I'm relieved to say. Just too much stuff. A lot too much stuff. And I have to have the right head on to let go of stuff - so it's a work in progress. Good luck helping your roommate. Friends have offered to help me over the years but the very thought of someone else being involved makes me feel sick. Not happening. I value the virtual support of my flylady friend though - they're the reason I have floor 😊
I'll feed the birds and put out the recycling before I set off for the paid stuff. Oooh it's half term hols. I can set off a bit later.
Joey is fine and dandy again this morning. Such a relief.
Have a good day.

Morning all
Had a baking sesh yesterday so, before I go to the funeral kitchen tidying is on the list. I made Grantham Gingerbreads which I firt made many years ago (pre Vallikids) but which I saw for sale up the posh neighbours, which inspired me to make them again. Apparently it’s a very old recipe!

When you're not quite sure whether you will be able to visit someone on a particular date, but you'd like them to keep it free until you can confirm, you might ask them to do this in their diary. 3 words: 6,2,2.Valli said:

So far today I have dusted 4½ shelves, hoovered a mattress, and found a new flower on one of my orchids which needs persuasion to grow upwards rather than down.7 -
Morning. Thanks for the explanation Iona. Didn't get wordle, had four letters correct but too many options. All lines on connections and strands with five hints.
Today so far I have:
Freshened sofa throws
Got admin up to date including renewing house insurance and putting more shortcuts on new pc
Changed bedding
Put rubbish and recycling out
Prepped an apple pie to bake later
Dailies
Just waiting for a collection in next hour (fling..) then I'll walk Poppet. I'm intending to hoover through when we get back.Spend less now, work less later.8 -
Afternoon all,
Yesterday disappeared in a haze of self assembly furniture, but resulted in one happy DD. And a lot more space in her room, although this could be due to the fact that the spare room / craft room now looks like a tip 🙄.This morning, I decluttered the dentist after having changed and washed the bedding and dusted the bedroom. Bedding is blowing out on the line. Mr M slot booked for Thursday. Next stop - vacuum clean the bedroom. As it’s bright and breezy outside , I might then see about getting some of the wallflowers that I brought back from the allotment into the back garden. Unfortunately I hadn’t noticed how tall they were growing, so I now have 2’ babies to plant.7 -

- Been through 10-14 Mr T magazines, cut out recipes I want to keep and recycled mags
- Emptied another box of Mum's photo albums into my study
- been to 'work'
- been gym swimming
- written meal plan and shopping list (more or less) for weekend as BIL is coming to visit; we're all going to a cousin's 60th party so I've promised to make a gf chocolate cake; 2 friends are coming to lunch on Sunday.
- modified training session for the online version I'm delivering tomorrow
- dealt with a load of emails

It's tough getting rid of the past but it does free up space for the future.8 -
