That's a dog on the front passenger seat - if that's not an offence then it should be.
    Rule 57  Highway code

    Rule 57

When in a vehicle make sure dogs or other animals are suitably restrained so they cannot distract you while you are driving or injure you, or themselves, if you stop quickly. A seat belt harness, pet carrier, dog cage or dog guard are ways of restraining animals in cars.

    Advice rather than law though.
    That's good.

A neighbour of mine drives their Range Rover with their highland terrier sat on their lap.

Probably alright because it's an automatic (the car, not the dog) so the fur baby won't be impeding the driver much.
Helps to give improved cushioning as well as the airbags in the event of a crash
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

But the driver squashes the dog in the case of an emergency stop or accident.

Or the dog gets flung out of the car.

TBH I couldn't give a toss about either of them, it's the innocent bystanders who get taken out when the fackwit looses control when the dog gets in their face I'm concerned about.
