Now I am confused too, just read the FAQs and don’t remember the baseline before, yes for savings but ….will be back4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0

In that part you've quoted, Ned, they mention using the half-hourly usage to work out your baseline. I understand your apprehension though as other mentions are less specific, and dug slightly deeper:
"5. … For any increase in consumption compared to your ‘Baseline’ consumption (as calculated by us in line with paragraph 5[sic] below), you will receive credit on your bill (the “Incentive”), equal to the value of your current unit rate per kWh for your energy tariff multiplied by the increase in kWh consumed during the Session, (measured as the difference between your meter reading and your Baseline consumption for the same period).
7. We will calculate your baseline consumption (the ‘Baseline’) by taking your average usage in the same half hour period from the last 10 days for power up periods arising on a weekday, and 4 days for power up periods arising on a weekend. The calculation shall disregard any consumption during a period where any other Session was taking place. Our view of your baseline consumption calculation is final and determined at our discretion."

It's essentially the same as the baseline calculation that is used for savings sessions.0

@Spoonie_Turtle thanks for that, I was going to wait until I can get on a bigger screen.
Now since their decision is final, I was on IOF Those weekends IOF was guzzling power to top my battery up, so this Sundays 3hour I would need to exceed circa 5kW to hit excess levels.
Making my head hurt now….best I finish my drink (or another) and sleep on it.

From the T&Cs https://octopus.energy/Octoplus-terms-and-conditions/#freeelectricityThank you @Spoonie_TurtleSo are we saying that for the 3h session tomorrow, there are actually 6 'periods' and 6 different baseline amounts, one for each 30min slot within the 3h session? So I'd be OK to max usage between 12-1pm as previously my usage has been zero? Our green credentials: 12kW Samsung ASHP for heating, 7.2kWp Solar (South facing), Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5kWh), Net exporter0 -
Yes, that's how they do it, comparing each 30 minute block.NedS said:Spoonie_Turtle said:In that part you've quoted, Ned, they mention using the half-hourly usage to work out your baseline. I understand your apprehension though as other mentions are less specific, and dug slightly deeper:

I don't want to definitively say yes because it's just my interpretation, but … that does seem to be what it's implying (to me).NedS said:Spoonie_Turtle said:In that part you've quoted, Ned, they mention using the half-hourly usage to work out your baseline. [I had a quick look to see if there was any specific info on my account or whether there's a calculator like there is for the savings sessions, but didn't find anything else.]1 -
I think they need to change their headline, misleading in my opinion, remember many people dont read everything.Free Electricity Session 9-10pm, Friday 24th October
I read that and interpret that as free for all usage.Further down in the effective small print it states above normal usage, this is a bit dangerous as well, as that is a vague term, it should instead be a figure put in there they have calculated so basically every email is personalised and accurate.Millions of people dont even know what KwH is. What is determined to be your normal usage, if your load varies day to day? Not mentioned in the email.
I request to the OP to also edit the thread title, its misleading as well.

[I had a quick look to see if there was any specific info on my account or whether there's a calculator like there is for the savings sessions, but didn't find anything else.]Thanks.I've made a spreadsheet with my usage for the last 4 weekend days during those 30min slots to calculate my 'baseline', and will record my usage tomorrow, at which point I will have all the data and should be able to work out how they calculate it once I receive my refunded credit in 10 days.I'm planning to use around 10kWh between 12-1pm, which will cost me around £3 that will be refunded if we are correct. If we're wrong, it costs me £3 so not the end of the world, but at least we know how they calculate it for future reference.

Does anyone know how it works with an EV on IOG? It's clear if I could leave it plugged in for the three hours, but I need to go out at 2.45.
Would I get 2 hours credit, 2 3/4 hours credit or does it need the whole 3 hours to get anything?0
