The decorator has finished, done an excellent job, been paid and gone - but not before my NNDN had asked him to do a small job for her! My bedroom was all done in 2 days rather than the 3 quoted for, so I have saved a bit of money
He'll be back, possibly next week (depending on the weather), to do some outside jobs for me. 5 -
I met a friend for coffee and then lunch at her choice of gc. I had a wander round with her, but kept my purse firmly closed. I took a detour home to avoid the traffic jam that had cost me 15 stationary minutes in the morning.
Wm x 1 done when I got back, bathroom cleaned and HHI. That made me feel like I had achieved something and vaguely stayed on top of things.
Iona, well done on decorator success. We are still waiting for our builder to come back, so getting the hall, landing and stairs done by Christmas is now seeming increasingly unlikely.6 -
nice one Iona. mines not finished, he’s painting my new doors next. to be fair though it has been a big job
washing line dried and stuff ironed. Think we’re in for bad weather so no doubt TD will be pressed into serviceDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Well a couple of not entirely pleasant tasks today had good outcomes.
- went for feedback at eye clinic. In a nutshell, they have been monitoring for 3yrs for suspected glaucoma - one type of which I'd never heard of and sounded dire - however the ophthalmologist said "There is no bad news - I would like to discharge you; you do not have glaucoma". To say I was relieved was an understatement. He checked and re-checked and sounded most convinced. Phew.
- a pleasant task for a sad reason; stopped off at Mr S on the way home from hosp to get flowers, then H0bbycraft for oasis. Spent the afternoon making a floral tribute for SIL's Mum. Unfortunately the weather forecast is dire and it's a burial, so how the flowers will look by the end of tomorrow is anyone's guess. SIL has advised trousers and flat shoes, as did funeral director when I delivered the flowers. Photo is birds-eye view on my kitchen floor!! please ignore dust.....
- used the leftover flowers to make a little arrangement for a friend who's just been in hospital.
- delivered them to her on the way to zumba. Rain started as I left (8.30pm) and has been getting heavier as the evening wore on; no shooting-star viewing for me tonight.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -
Beautiful arrangement Narco, such lovely colours.
WM and TD each run - towels so they're all nice and fluffy. To be fair though I do like a 'rough' towel. Buffs the skin and all that.
DD must be psychic - she's requested fish pie for tea and I was thinking exactly the same...got the YS cod out to thaw but I'll need some finnan haddock (sp?)Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Afternoon all. Got DD1's dog here now so I've taken him out twice so far and been over for the newspaper. I don't like tying him up outside the shop anyway (in case someone steals him) and now it's pitch dark I like it even less so I have to have a separate walk for that.Cooking lunch now and then we're going to watch some television. It's cold and breezy out. Got very wet first thing but it's been dry for a couple of hours. Due to start again in an hour or so I think so I expect the next walk will be wet. Good job I've got a weird rainhat to wear
Beautiful flowers Narco xHope everyone's OK.6 -
Lovely colours in the flowers, Narc0.
I’ve been out for lunch with ex work colleagues so no flying here this morning.
Beans that were soaked overnight are being cooked as I type. Meal plan finally done for the next week. Mr M due to deliver in the next hour or so. I have tons of admin to do but DH is hogging the office space. DD is bak shortly so then I will have her to contend with as well for deskspace.
I really ought to start sorting this recipe collection out…6 -
Afternoon all - those flowers are lovely Narco
Thought I'd posted yesterday's flying 🤷♀️ - was quite busy with the usuals plus...
✔️Did the bathroom
✔️ collected blood forms etc. from doc.
✔️booked appt.for blood test on Friday ✔️Sorted outfit for NW on Monday
✔️ washed/ironed stuff to pack for NH ✔️Planted more bulbs - still loads to go
✔️as a family we did lots of paperwork sorting & shredding. got rid of about 50% of it
Today
✔️Changed bedlinen
✔️Dusted & hoovered everywhere (especially where yesterday's shredding took place!)
Volunteering gardening morning cancelled, due to inclement weather, so me & OH dealt with a
🐸 - involved the living room, 'hallway', our bedroom and 'that' corner of the box room, moving/swapping amplifiers, guitars, tables and other furniture and shedloads of dusting & hoovering.
Shower, shampoo & sitdown now, then make lasagne for tea.

Narc0, it's great news that you have been decluttered by the ophthalmologist! That's a most beautiful arrangement in tribute to your SiL's Mum: I hope the funeral was not washed out and that everyone came away with feelings of thankfulness and peace, rather than frustration at the weather xx
Hope everyone else has managed to stay warm and dry too. We had some sunshine around lunchtime, so J the gardener mowed our lawn. It looked splendid for the next 5 minutes, until the leaves started falling again!
Decluttering continues: I have arranged for our old bed to be taken away next Friday by the hospice shop, if they want it. If they don't, it will be disposed of (for a small fee) by the local business from which I've bought a new one - but that's not due to arrive until the following Monday. In the meantime I shall continue camping out in the study bedroom. Rosie is still a bit bewildered, but happier now that the decorator has gone.

LR cleaned (mostly) and sofa cushions swapped over - another good reason for getting 2 sofas the same size.
Just stacked DW from tea - fish pie was lovely and the first time ever I have properly poached the fish in a pan and not in the microwave. Poached and left to cool then fish pie constructed. I watched someone make it on TV - I've never followed a formal recipe but I do use bayleaves (home grown) and peppercorns like a proper cook. Though I says it as shouldn't it's delicious.
WUALTD - washed dessert dishes so that the casserole could go in the DW.
Maiden emptied of ironed stuff then refilled with airing towels.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson
