HI , I am currently LWRAC and i am thinking about the possibility of doing a part time job for 20 hours a week if they will have me. What happens to the LWRAC?

If I cant manage to do the job I don't want to lose my benefits because I will lose my home and be back at stage 1. Can anyone advise what the rules are please

LCWRA stays on your existing claim until you have a new Work Capability Assessment and there is a different outcome decision.

You can try working and if you have to stop there is no consequence affecting your claim as having LCWRA means you have no work related requirements.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Due to the LCWRA element you'll have a work allowance on your claim.
This is the amount of money you can earn before UC make their standard deduction of 0.55p for every pound earned.
If you receive Housing Element it is £411.
If you don't it is £684.

  • In addition to the above, I'd recommend contacting your local jobcentre as you may be eligible to the Flexible Support Fund if you needed anything to help you get back to work.

DWP is also running a programme aimed at getting those with LCWRA into work. It's called Pathways to Work.

Thankyou everyone for your help. I have seen a job I think i could do, so hopefully I will  get it. I just have to keep it, that's the problem. I I try my best to get through the days and do what I need to do, it is a huge struggle sometimes. Fingers crossed, thankyou x

..... But when your LCWRA reassessment is done the DWP may use you working against you and say you're obviously capable of work. Or they may downgrade you to LCW (no payment) and say you're capable of 'limited work'.

That's mostly a danger if the work contradicts the reason someone has been awarded LCWRA.  If it works around someone's health restrictions for xyz reason or they can only do it because of certain accommodations, that concrete proof can be helpful in an assessment.

Somebody working doesn't change the descriptors which is ultimately what the assessment is based on, no matter what the assessor or DWP might try to say.  And that's what matters if you have to challenge an incorrect decision.
