    It’s not this by any chance? Arbutus, known the strawberry tree because the fruit looks like strawberries. My neighbour has a splendid specimen, we live about a mile from the south coast.

    Not this. Those were fruits - don't park your car near them or walk under, they stain. You can make jam from them but it's fairly tasteless.
    This has pretty dark raspberry pink bracts with a dark red berry in the centre.....as hopefully you will see tonight 🙂
