Hi everyone

Just adding this info for anyone reading the thread now the new system has launched:

Melton have provided a step-by-step guide to activating your User Profile

https://www.themelton.co.uk/tmbs-content/uploads/2025/09/User-profile-activation-insert-2.pdf

Pointing out info that may help:
1. Ensure you drop the first 0 from your mobile number
2. For your account number, omit the 3 letters at the beginning and the end of your account number and add a 0 in front. For instance, for ABC1234567SMI becomes 01234567.

Hi everyone

I am aware that Melton BS are changing systems, that online access has been temporarily revoked and that we will need to re-register for their new system.

Last week, they mentioned it would be out of action for a few days and their website said Monday 6th October. This has now been and gone and I now notice there is no longer a date mentioned on their website banner.

Instead of clogging their line, I just wondered if someone may have spoken to them and if they gave an update on what is happening?

Thanks

I also noticed that their website still said they expected to launch on the 6th yesterday, but that there’s no indication given today. In my view those in charge of messaging have got to expect calls to be coming in about it (or branch visits if they are open.) It’s not just a minor inconvenience of not being able to view your accounts when you like but also having been told that you can’t withdraw until they’ve finished.

Strangely, they prompted me to change my password about a week before it went offline - why bother, if everyone will have to re-register rather than to log in with their existing credentials?

As there could be issues if in that week your account was accessed by an unauthorised person because they had disabled the requirement to change your password every X weeks. Alternatively the requirement to change passwords every X weeks is hard coded into the source code and not a business configuration item and so why invest in changing it, testing it, releasing new code on something being taken down in a weeks time?

Plus where do you draw the line? Stop resets 1 week early? 2 weeks? 1 month? Maybe abandon people changing their password all together?

Haven't had much to do with Cyber Insurance but things like password policies, 2FA etc are probable underwriting criteria and policies wouldnt be valid if policies were changed without the insurer being updated and recalculating premiums.

Certainly sounds like something has gone notably wrong in the fact they have used up all their contingency and arent confident enough to give a new date but clearly not so badly wrong that they arent rolling back (unless its one of those brown trouser projects where a roll back isnt viable)

The Melton has brought its online system back up. As expected, users need to "Activate" their online access by competing details (Name, Account No, Phone No, DoB, email address).

    It doesn't work.

Anyone else have any luck before I try ringing them?

Wish I’d taken a screenshot before it went offline. I didn’t receive any direct communication from them so wasn’t aware re-registration would be necessary until I read it here. I have a dual sim phone and can’t remember which number I gave them 🥺

    Step 3 mentions "
you’ll need your 8 digit account number". My account identifier is 13 Characters XXXnnnnnnnXXX.

Should I be using a subset of this account id?

I noticed that there were 10 X’s pre-filled in the mobile number box, so first tried omitting the 0 as they had the +44 listed above (as per Progressive.) No success on either number, whether entered in 10 or 11 digit format.

No accounts are listed as available on their website yet, so perhaps it’s still a work in progress.

It's a joke, I've messed around with the account No and the phone number and every time it comes back as 'invalid'

I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.

Use the numeric portion of the account id PRECEDED by a zero to make 8 digits.

Works for me and others. Thanks to @figgyc for working it out.

Working perfectly. You simply have to add a zero on top of your account number and confirm the details they have stored. Applied, change my password and went on line in a minute and checked that my payment had arrived
