I am flip flopping somewhat as the Smart TVs mentioned on here do not have all the apps I would like on them ( Discovery + for TNT sports  and Apple for example) so a more "conventional"  TV with a firestick which allows me to load any app ( but not use Freely) may seem the way to go...EDIT ..BUT I suppose I can still put a Firestick on any TV as long as it has an HDMI connection..

My newish Panasonic smart TV runs Fire TV and has Freely, Discovery +, AppleTV and every other channel that's available on the Fire platform.

Haven't checked if it's true of their smaller TVs (mine's 65") but as you say, a Firestick can be added to any TV with an HDMI socket.

EDIT : list of tellys with Freely on their website, albeit not that up-to-date 'cos mine's not on it.
