Hi
I would like to install a nice TV for streaming in my revamped man cave. Everything will be over wifi/ ethernet from a relay with good speeds.
I will want to watch all the main streaming services , netflix etc but have fallen a bit behind with new TVs etc
I have just discovered Freely exists so this would allow me to watch all free to air stuff under one umbrella..do I need a freely enabled TV specifically.
We have sky via older sky HD which I pipe around to other TVs in the house but cannot do that to the man cave. I do have Sky Go on my PC in the man cave and on my phone. I don't think you can cast Sky Go but is it possible to transfer it onto the TV via an HDMI cable from the PC or the Monitor I currently watch Sky on ?
Any other tips on purchasing a TV, budget up to £300 for a wall mounted, c40 inch model ?
Cheers !

Personally have found that smart TVs are not very smart even when having 10x your budget and thats brand new. The smart functions also tend to age very badly with many manufacturers not keeping up to date with all apps.
I seperate source and display and use a streaming device like Amazon Fire Stick or AppleTV for the actual streaming as they tend to be much better at it for longer and if in the future you decide its time to upgrade replacing just a fire stick is vastly cheaper than a new TV.2 -
If you have an existing TV that is still reasonably up to date and functional, there is no need to replace it. Just add a streaming device to it - this will plug into an HDMI socket and give you access to all the main streaming services. Amazon devices have a good reputation and you do not need an Amazon sub to use them with other services. Cost from around £20.1

If you do go with a Firestick then I believe you can cast content from a phone or tablet (or from a Chrome browser on a PC) onto the Stick.
Anyone confirm?0 -

AFAIK none of the sticks support Freely. So, I would say look at the Hisense range, the newer ones have Freely built in.
Go for the new TV. Who wants an ancient TV in a brand new Man Cave?????Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

My newish Panasonic TV has Freely and it's incorporated into the Fire TV interface that this TV uses but as you say, only (yet) available for TVs, presumably because it needs terrestrial/freesat input for much of its content.1 -

If you only want a small TV (40") with Freely, all the streaming and catchup apps, this is not a bad shout.
