Heat geek design consultation worth paying £250 for?

I get how some people may not want the disruption and may be willing to pay for that with lower efficiency and higher running costs (although do they really understand that is the choice they are making?), but we were happy to have a week of total disruption whilst the installers replaced all plumbing and radiators knowing we would achieve good flow rates and low flow temperatures from a properly optimised design.

It's a choice, and I guess it's good to have options, but like you I'm a little sceptical.

Heat Geek still offer an efficiency guarantee for their installs so theoretically their zero disrupt approach isn't too risky.

I found this video offering an interesting approach whereby the system is installed then 'tweaked' after a winter's experience. Radiator changes etc only as needed.

Edit: good to see a recognition that waiting weeks for an installation isn't a realistic approach especially to boiler breakdown opportunities.

I like the idea of the zero disrupt setup; my current gas system is probably "adequate", but a full replacement is not a cost I'd like to bear.

However, the £250 consultation fee is offputting, so I'll probably go elsewhere.

Remember they also monitor and guarantee performance, which is probably worth the entry fee alone.

I fitted a heat meter in line with my gas boiler a couple of years back and have been recording the data ever since. Gives me an idea of actual heat losses dependent on outdoor temperature (also logged). Unfortunately, we haven't had a long period of subzero temperatures in this area since installing the heat meter.

Always worth having hard data to hand before investing large sums of money.

I paid, I felt the guy knew what he was talking about and he was able to take on my data for current usage etc, However they were limited to a Vaillant Heat Pumps, which only came in 7kw which they recommended but I felt was to tight or larger that was too loud. Also felt the price was a bit rich considering a zero disrupt also means not much work on their part, I have already upgraded all the rads.

How long ago was this? Vaillant has released new heat pumps this year that are smaller, quieter and more efficient.

We have a 2 bed bungalow.

Same cost, but that is due to current combi boiler, so HP install requires a hot water tank install & all the costs involved. Heasting system is fine.
