I ( and my son says he has similar) had a very good deal from Virgin, when mentioning the magic word 'leaving, I had a previous email offering a further year on my same contract, so called to clarify that the new deal included double up broadband speed. I said I wasn't being greedy by wanting all, but I would like a 2 year contract and possibly a lower price, adding that LILAConnect our independent  fibre provider, also added 3 months free and had a duration price fix. My reward was 99p off the price but doubling up my internet, so 500 internet, line and Anytime calls, all for £27 on a 2 year contract.

Am not sure how long before virgin contract ends I can chose another provider. Some said do it when I'm out of contract. But already had an email (months before) from virgin saying it will go up £40 when my contract ends. So don't want that!,
Just want to swap my provider without any hassle but do it correctly

You're currently with Virgin and want to move elsewhere.
How long have you been with Virgin? Do you have a Virgin telephone number and do you need to keep it?
The simplest option would be to sign up as a new customer with a different provider, get that installed and working, then cancel Virgin. That might not be the cheapest option but it will avoid the risk of having no service at all for a period.

Been with virgin over 10 years. No home phone now. It's supposed to be easy to swap but to me it's so complicated
I have virgin broadband and tv
Want to swap to Sky Broadband and TV.  In what order do it do it? Will sky inform virgin?
I'm worried about how much it will cost if I get it wrong. It's very hard to get through even trying to phone virgin.

OK, that's one less thing to worry about.

You could sign up with Sky and get them to cancel your Virgin service using the "one touch switching" system. The risk you run is that Sky will tell Virgin the date they're taking over, then find they can't start your service on that date because eg. there's no Openreach cable to your house.
If this happens, Virgin might still cancel on the date Sky tell them but leave you with no broadband or TV until Sky sort everything out.
If instead you get your Sky service up and running before you cancel Virgin, there's no chance of losing it all but you will end up paying extra for a period - potentially a month or more - where you have both Sky and Virgin.
It's your choice which way you do it.
