I hope you and your OH stay on the right side of healthy, eltee, and that you both get a reasonable night's sleep.
Kaz, like HB, I bought a reconditioned Dy$0n stick thing which I find more than adequate, though I had to change the battery after only a year- however, the new Chinese battery, from the jungle store, keeps its charge much better than the original. It's also light enough for me to carry upstairs in one hand.
Today I have done various bits of admin, phoned a friend, been out with DH to a GC for plants (I paid) and lunch (he paid), bought an aubergine and a birthday card in the farm shop, went to our local pharmacy and had my flu and Covid jabs, and then cleared most of the dead annuals from the border along the drive (some are growing between the kerb and the tarmac and will require Idris the dragon to breathe hard on them!). There is a lovely patch of colourful marigolds and evening primrose plants at the top of the drive alongside our parking area, which all our neighbours in the close are enjoying too.
DH is feeling hard done by as he is still under 75 and not immuno-suppressed, so was refused a Covid jab. Considering that he has far more problems with chest infections than I do, it does seem rather crazy. He will just have to be extra careful this winter. It was a good thing we didn't go to DGD1's birthday party on Saturday as DGD2 has been liberal in spreading her germs around the family, so that DS1 and DDiL1 have now caught whatever she had (though I understand that, so far, DGD1 has somehow avoided the lurgy).
Strangely, all my children chose to phone here yesterday evening, though they said there was no conspiracy/collusion.
I might manage some more cross stitch this evening.5 -
I also had my 'flu jab today, did the first round of dealing with the things in the yard that need to be dealt with, and also played freezer tetris, so that's everything that was in the diary and everything I wanted to get done yesterday but didn't have the feels for. I then made half a dozen two person lasagnes, five of which will go in the freezer when they're chilled and managed to squeeze in the stuff that was in the fridge which were fully chilled. The huge pile of plastic sacks full of leafmold, the first really successful time I've made it, were dragged out of their stashspot and are ready to be mixed with some homemade compost for my baby broad beans to go into when the tomato plants get taken down. I'm still hoping that the last trusses of tomatoes will blush soon so I can pick them and trash the plants. I don't need any more green tomato chutney.Inter Alia is the current NT Live and there's a second showing of it coming up fairly soon. If anyone has the opportunity to see it a their local cinema I thoroughly recommend it. Rosamund Pike is quite wonderful, and the play is exceptionally good.Better is good enough.5

In panic mode today having confirmed that I'm delivering the 1st of 2 training sessions at 'work' next Wed - I'd thought it was a week later. So spent all my work time today finalising handouts, PowerPoints etc, liasing with IT about how to connect in whatever room I'm in (turns out they prefer you to put stuff on a memory stick and use one of their computers) - I don't yet know what room I'm in. A couple of meetings (to ask a range of training-needs-related questions) and a few emails later, I came home and have spent a couple of hours continuing to type and organise stuff. It's just like being at work, except I got paid for that!!
Saw student today, first time I've seen him as term has just started, had a lovely session and he seems more organised than last term.
Drove some flowers to church as another lady is starting the bower round the door tomorrow - hope hurricane whatever doesn't hit us or the bride will have to chase her bower round the village.
2nd panic not yet happened but poised to cut foliage and soak oasis - er, today - for wedding flowers. Before that, Mr N wants to visit some gardens and enjoy autumn colour; he is happy to postpone it if I'm too busy but I'd feel a bit mean as he is putting up with my non-work stuff and the flower stuff everywhere, not to mention then spending the rest of the weekend going to Dorset and back to visit Mum. Plus as we're away this weekend and return for just a couple of day (to do another presentation) before going to Norfolk, I don't know when we'd fit in an alternative day to visit when the autumn colours would still be there.
On the bright side, I've kept up with admin, done a reasonable amount of flying, did aqua aerobics today, had both gym swim and lake swim yesterday (saw a kingfisher), printed off cc bill, spoken to DB on the phone, messaged and spoke to step SIL as stepbrother is in hospital.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.6 -

I'm waiting to be booked in for flu and covid jabs
@ionafan I would be checking with the GP re the covid jab for MrIonafan - he might not be clinically vulnerable but it seems like a false economy to me given the number of times he ends up in hosptial.
Managed to get some ironing done last night. Decorator making great strides with DR.

Today I have
- ached from the jabs in both arms
- FU some of DH's clean washing, left it to him to PA
- PUPA and hoovered the LR
- disposed of dead cut flowers
- got stew out of the freezer for tea
- tidied my baking drawer and added a few air fryer accessories to the CS bag
- done more admin bits
- walked Rosie
- been to the U3A monthly meeting
- hand delivered one birthday card and posted another
- dropped the bag off at the CS
- done some shopping at Mr A1's
- been to the podiatrist
- trebled my daily walking target.
That'll do.
G'night all xxx1 -
