It does look a bit bare with no plants so I have to come up with something to soften it up. The problem is we have such high winds it just rips everything apart.
I notice you're on the South Coast too, I thought last night's windsd were going to rip the house, not just the plants, apart :eek:
Have you tried Woolies? They've lots of bare root shrubs at half price at the mo. From an MSE point of view I've never had probs with their plants and when they are only small the can flex a bit in the wind whilst developing their roots.....plus if the worst comes to the worst and it gets ripped apart, you've not spent a fortune. I've a lovely Japanese Maple I picked up from there for £2.99 a few years ago....the price the go for in a nursery is scary.
You might want to try out the Greenfingers page on here as they may have some good ideas.
Good luck with the landscaping.

Thanks for the suggestion. I need the plants to be in pots as the new bit has got hardcore with gravel on it so no where to plant anything. I am therefore a bit worried they may blow away unless very heavy or low. Sounds good with Wollies I bought a lot there when we first moved in all of which is still going strong after 15 years so thanks for reminding me.
Just be looking at the bathroom catalogues again you really can go mad. £475 for a bathroom cabinet with lights,:eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:
I think IKEA might come in handy instead.
On the plus side got an offer in the post today for a casino with a £5 Ukash voucher to try it out. I deposited it and won £20 in slots then DH took us to £108 on roulette and I have now cashed out £100. Not sure they will let us have it as we never deposited anything but we shall wait and see. It wasn't like any of the usual sign up and we will give you an instant £5 to play with but you cant withdraw. Even if I have to deposit say £10 it would be worth it.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Just a quick update so you dont think I have given up on my diary already. I have been away because of work had to leave Sunday night to go to HQ and then I drove down to Cornwall today where I am for 2 days. Cant wait to get home on Thursday but it is all part of the job so cant complain really.
Have had some more luck with the Casino last Sunday. As you saw from the last post DH made £100 from a free £5 voucher with a casino but he did even better on the Sunday. I had had an email from Ladbrokes that the first 200 would get some free money. I clicked on it and got £5. I played black/even on the roulette and got us to £7. Then I asked DH if he wanted to play. He played really well and got us to £40 so I took out £20. Then he continued to do well and after about 1 hour we had taken out £140. That is a profit of £240 in one weekend. Pretty cool I would say. Now I know this sort of stuff is addictive but I think we will be OK.
Also just booked a fab MSE holiday today but I will tell you more about that later. I have only bought airtime of 60 min in the hotel so are nearly out now. I do have a 3 g card but MSE is blocked due to the gambling blog so buy buying internet access it is the only way I can get on. Staying in a small hotel with free WIFI so you might get the rest of the story tomorrowSave £12k in 25 No 49

Well done on your gambling successes! It sounds a great result. I have often been tempted to try matched betting but my maths is so dreadful I am afraid I might make myself bankrupt in about 15 minutes...
We are on the Hants/ Wilt border and have had dreadul winds. Lots of branches off trees but no damage to the one tree I would quite like to fall down. Hopefully the roof is roughly where it was before!"Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." William Morris0 -
Morning All
Back from my long trip away with work and gosh does it feel great to be back home. Just posted the chart for the MFi3 it is amazing nearly 1 million paid off in 9 months. So pleased for everyone.
Well I have now booked my holiday to Portugal and let me tell you all about it. We always go away and play golf for 1 week a year and usually to Spain. This year DH fancied going back to Portugal. We have been before and stayed at the Sheraton Hotel. 5 star deluxe and a nice 9 hole golf course too. It was expensive when we went and now you only get 9 holes a day instead of 18 so I was not that happy about booking it. Anyway came their Vacations Club which is next door and part of the complex. They were offering trips to see the club obviously with a view to buy.
Special Offer
* 5 Days/ 4 Nights in a luxurious Two-Bedroom Golf Suite apartment
* Private chaffeur-driven transfer from and to Faro Airport
* Access to the Health Club & Gym
* 8 x 9 holes of golf at Pine Cliffs Golf Course
* 2 Back Massages
* VIP Treatment
All for the bargin prize of £260 with the flights being about £300 for us both. That will be £280 each a lot less than I had plan to spend.
All we have to do is to liste to their 90 minutes about their vacation club which I am sure we can do and resist buying anything. It is a really lovley place and I cant wait to go now. Just waiting for final confermation before I book the flights.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Not a lot to report today, got £30 from Greasypalm so the holiday fund is now looking a lot better. DH counted all his £1 and £2 coins yesterday and he has over £150. Unfortunately the bank will not take them on a Saturday how stupid it that and I refuse to pay coinstars fees.
Need to get my MoneyBackMadness account up to £35 before it will pay out. On £23 at the moment. Saw that Vernons offer £6.50 for each new account so signed up. You get £5 free so for £10 you get £15 to play with plus the £6.50 cashback. I am going to ask DH to play roulette and anything over £3.50 win will be a bonus. If he looses it is not a great loss. It has already tracked in MoneyBackMadness. Is anyone else using that? Great to get £10 when you sign up and £10 for referring someone else but hard to get up to £35.Save £12k in 25 No 49

A little update from me. The Roulette thing did not really happen. My DH played and it spun 0 3 times so no chance fo winning really. He was quite disappointed but it seems the site is fixed so not really worth bothering with. At least my MoneyBackMadness account is a bit nearer to paying out which is cool so I only "lost £3.70 on the whole thing.
Been out buying things for my front garden to brighten it up a bit with the new fence. Got a lovely woodden box with a trellis so it should screen the bins nicely. Then our fence man knocked on the door and he has found us a gate. He will instal it for £175 so I said yes. It will stop the wind going down the side of the house and will look nice. May be a pain each time we need to use the bins as we will have to open it.
Can't belive I keep spending so much money? It is so easy.Save £12k in 25 No 49

It is scary how easy it is to spend money on the garden. I went outside on Friday and found our sometime gardener putting new hedging plants into the hedge. I'd spoken to him months ago about it and then totally forgotten! They are a mixture of laurel and beech plants and look really nice though.
I am going to have to get him back soon to brushcut the rhododendrons back from the fences so that will be a bit more..."Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." William Morris0 -
Totally agree gardens can just eat money but on the other hand if something is broken like a fence there is an excuse to spend money on it. We dont really need a gate but it will look nice and hopefully break the wind off from the fence and protect it a bit.
Anyway had a nice evening with yet more roulette games. DH signed up to Vernons (I know some dont allow you two acc in a household) and risked £3.80 of his own money. We got up to about £30 and started to loose. However somehow we spun in 2 x 20 at £25.50 each so a nice little balance of £62 before the site crashed. We went back in and took out £40 so have £19.50 left to play with as for some reason you cannot take out the initial deposit.
Quite a good result and I am now ever nearer to my £35 at MoneyBackMAdness.
Had to book a hotel for work so will get 5% back at Quidco and need to book flights plus airport hotel for Portugal so that should get me a bit more. I do like Martins Cashback Maximiser but I dont think it does MoneyBackMadness.
I think we are going to fly BA to Faro so just need to work out if we book them on the Airmiles site (sadly cannot use airmiles to book as no flights for that) or BA Miles. Then need to look at the cashback options. So complication being a MSE but love it none the less.

Garden gate is now in so I just need to plant up the new container and will then put a photo on here I think. At least that is it for spending money on the garden.
Man is coming around this morning to measure up the bathroom, ensuite and cloakroom and I just know it is going to be expensive. I know you can do bathrooms on the cheap yourself but DH and I have no experience of this and it does need doing. Will try to rain in the costs as much as I can.
By the way lost the £19.50 on Roulette got to £31 but could not withdraw so just went for it and lost. Nice £35+ profit though.
Will update you later.Save £12k in 25 No 49
