Back from the grim "north", really tired had a nice evening at the party and glad I went to bed instead of clubbing like the others. Champagne and free bar all night so bound to feel rough today and I do. Have virtually packed for my weekend away, booze & crisps done, golf clubs done, clothes no done. No idea if I should take winter clothes or summer stuff and we are 3 in the car so limited space really. Not leaving until 9 tomorrow so will have time to pack then.

Nice that they have cut the interest rates today I wonder if it will affect my Woolwich/Barclays mortgage. We pay 6 at the moment and it tracks .85% about so should be nice.

Went to post a reply on the gambling board and DH asked me what I was doing. He wanted to read it and I pulled it away. I am not trying to have secrets from him but not sure I am ready to confess to running an online diary. He knows about MFi3 and all that.

    Ha,
TallGirl - I've now had my diary for 6 months. One of my stated aims for 2008 is to let mrs bliss know about my goings on.

On my diary there's been questions regarding if she knows yet!

As you say, I'm not trying to hide anything, but I'm not sure she's ready just yet. Difficult also to gauge a reaction.

    Regards,
    FB.

Hope those who had a flutter on the Gran National enjoyed it. DH and I did pick the winner and we had done the VC fallers offer so we get a refund for those.

Keep meaning to get into this matched betting lark but not managed to motivate myself to read everything yet.

Did however have a free £25 at SJ from a bet I placed 3 months ago.

Decided to also bet another £25 of my own.

    £12.5 E/W on two horses I thought....

    Horses I chose?

Comply or Die and King John's Castle. 1st and 2nd. Couldn't believe it! Good ol' Morning Line.

    £200 profit! Nice!

Not MB or anything, obviously coulda lost £25.... but didnt.... so nice none the less.

    Morning
How lovely to log in and see all those messages.

Hi abouttimetoo welcome to MFW and good luck with your quest.

financialbliss I agree it is difficult to decide to tell or not but sometimes it is just nice to have somewhere to went your inner thoughts and ramblings and I am not sure my DH would fully understand so keeping him in dark at the moment.

Setmefree thanks for the reminder about the mortgage rate drop and wonder when we will start benefitting.

Well done JonnyBravo good picks you had on the Grand National but as you said it is not Match Betting just pure luck. If you want to get into it I am happy to help you. It really isn't that difficult you just need to get your head around backing and laying the bets. Basically backing is easy its what you do at the bookies but laying is where you act as a bookie taking someone elses money and if they win you pay out. Good luck

    Update time I think.
Been away for the weekend playing golf with ladies from my golf club. A bit cold but we didn't get really soaked just wind, hail, rain etc etc. Nice to have a chat, drink, eat, party and relax a bit but feeling quite tired today. Didn't actually spend that much money as we had a chalet with a fridge etc so could take our own wine.

Yes I did enjoy myself but was away far too much last week, 3 days with work and then 3 days golfing break. DH was not in the best of moods when I got in. It is sometimes difficult as he doesn't really have any friends of his own and he rarely goes to the club without me. I don't want to miss out just because he doesn't get invited away for the wekeend but I did actually miss him and miss being home.

Have quite a busy week ahead of me but thinking about backing out of going to Cornwall. Going out with my new boss on Thursday so that will be interesting and I have to plan for next week so plenty to do if I dont go to Cornwall.

One final thing I need to work out if it is worth going to France for a quick break. I am in Dover the day before so from about 12noon we can nip across. Here are the figures:

Dover to Calais Hoverspeed Ferries £14 going over on a Friday at 12noon coming back 7pm. That would give us about 3 hours in France to shop and come back as the ferry is 1 hour & 45min each way. Diesel is free as I have a company car so we could potentially save a bit by buying wine etc in France.
Downside to this idea of the 1 day trip is we will get home quite late and is it really worth it.

Eurotunnel is quicker but costs £50 and DH is for some reason not that keen on that idea.

We could take the ferry and stay overnight which would cost an extra £50 for the hotel but then we would need to add food etc.

So what you do think Friday only or Friday and Saturday?

I have asked DH and I can't get a straight answer as to what he wants to do. I have said we don't need to go it was just an idea as he hasn't been away for a while. He says he wants to go but then makes excuses about it and is very vague so really no idea what to do. Men why can't they just say what they want to do.

If you stay over, you could use a Formule1 motel - they can be grotty, though I've stayed at the two in Dunkerque and they're ok - and they're only about 30 euros a room!

I love a shopping trip in France :)
Ali - still pretty much a newbie, need to brush up my MS habits!

Thanks Aliportico that is worth looking into. Spoke to DH again last night about it and it looks like he is keen on the overnight option now. Problem is we are already staying Thursday night and then Friday night so will need a cat sitter. Must get to know the new neighbours better.

Anyway did not get any real work done yesterday so must do it today as I am going out with my new boss on Thursday. Have a list of stuff to do.

Matchbetting has hit a setback. Signed DH up and got the first £100 free bet and bet £100 towards the next free £50. Then I had no more money in the account so rather than top it up I decided to use the free bet. Got £25 then they limited me. Really sad as I don't know if DH is up to placing bets on the phone. Want to withdraw but their site is down so will have to wait.

That means I have no current bookie on the go but may scale down a bit now at least I got profits of £1228 which is not bad in 12 weeks.
