Thankfully I left them years ago for Monzo. Just wish they wouod accept BACS payments.
Is the Monzo current account unable to send/receive BACS payments? That would make it pretty much unusable for a large number of people who receive their income via BACS or pay their bills by direct debit.

They do accept BACs, I've had my salary paid into my Monzo account that way for the last four years. They even let you claim it at 4:00 the day before youd normally receive it.

My bad, I mixed it up with Chase which I wanted to switch to recently but didn't due to this

It would be unusual for any bank to not accept receiving it. Chase seems to be fine too: https://www.chase.co.uk/gb/en/support/adding-money/

Chase accepts Bacs but its problem is that it doesn't accept Chaps or cheques.

Ouch, that redesign rip-off really must have cost Starling one heck of a lot: they've announced that their (already fairly mediocre, but arguably sort of handy if you just want to put day to day spending money aside for a short while before you need it) savings account interest rates (both Easy Saver and Cash ISA) are being slashed by a huge 0.75%-pts, from 20 October.

It's almost as if they're trying to Chase another bank right down to the bottom…?

I don’t mind the update but is this the best Starling could do?

Starling seems to have stayed very static for a long time with no new offerings.  I suppose this is good in one way but where’s the ideas, where’s the development, where’s the innovation?
It's very easy to be innovative when you have a blank sheet of paper and designing stuff from scratch. Investors too are happier to take risks as you start out.

Once you have systems and customers and staff and data then change becomes much harder to implement which means decision makers have to be more confident that changes will deliver big benefit for the business case to stack up. Similarly investors want consistent returns once you're established and are less keen on you taking a major punt on a big new feature.

Working with a previously innovative insurer a few of the long term directors were frustrated by the inability to be entrepreneurial as IT just cost so much to make changes and if you spend big on a modest change and it doesnt increase your profits enough you've signed your bonus away for 2-3 years.  There were a few big projects that really needed doing and everyone agreed in principle but no one believed they would pay back quick enough to stake bonuses on it,

Don’t come on here with your logic and reasoning…

They do have a fixed saver at 3.8% to replace the easy saver, not ideal of course but it's decent for us as a shared account to hold household savings for a bit and leave a smaller amount in the easy saver

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Looking at the changes information in the app it looks like they are changing from having vertical cards to having horizontal ones. It's only a minor thing but horizontal cards make much more sense to me given how most wallets and purses hold the card.
